lobo Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Please note that the current role rate in the current beta is too slow. In a forthcoming beta it will be corrected. Very good news! 1 Lobo's DCS A-10C Normal Checklist & Quick Reference Handbook current version 8D available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/172905/
Frederf Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 By "role" he means "roll." Furthermore, he means "roll rate" as in bank rate which has very little to do with pitch (read: nothing). Are the controls made less sensitive with the gear down and/or the AAR door open? I know they are on the F-16 but that's all FCS stuff and the A-10 is a bit more rods and pulleys than that.
Echonomix Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) I haven't noticed any FCS damping because of wheels down and flaps in landing config. I think it happens due to drag anyway. I could be wrong. That was one thing I really enjoy with falcon 4. How different the F16 feels/flies with clean/weapon/landing config. That is how I read it, roll rate. They are going to increase the roll rate! Superb news. Fish Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Cross wind landing. If you have cross winds, the pitch ladder and fpm will shift downwind in the hud to compensate. ON approach put the fpm on the runway. This will put the nose into the wind, and prevent from drifting downwind on approach. Arclight Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 6.000 feet, flaps down, gear down, throttles back, do your testing :) Just don't forget to subtract couple knots for atmospheric pressure ;) After reading this thread I tried a 'proper' aproach and got the donut right. Was a good landing, if I do say so myself. :) Was even in the middle of the night, though I did do 1 go-around. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'. (yes, corny. Sorry.)
Belphe Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Ok so I've been playing around with your track a bit more, because in every replay your gear is fine. I even flew your replay myself doing what you do to no avail, aside from once. I heard a loud thumping noise at the first set of strips on the runway, and my gear was toast. If you goto a outside camera and look at the runway, there is a "little" bump in that part of the runway, Wags said the damage modeling was still a WIP so I'm assuming it's just a beta bug. Thanks for doing all that testing! I don't understand why the track doesn't show what really happened (I judge this from what you say - I'm at work now and cannot verify that...). In my track I: - check that the anti skid is ON - I switch the NWS OFF @ ~55 knots - I start rotating @ ~100 knots - something goes wrong and after I'm airborne and try to retract the landing gear my nose wheel stays out (retracting system gets damaged) I'm wondering if this is not visible from the outside but I guess you've checked that... Many times, my nose wheel gets ripped off just like you experienced it. This way or another, whether it's visible in my track or not I appreciate for all your help. I have learned many important things about take-offs and landings in the Hog. I agree that there's a bump on the strip and I officially blame it for my incidents! :D I'll do more tests in Nellis tonight. Thank you! PS. Still cannot start rotating earlier than 95 knots... :/ Would "take-off trimming" help? Edited October 19, 2010 by Belphe Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Can anyone be bothered to read mangaroca's posts with that awful, awful, awful font?
