Sel94 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Hey guys, I decided that I will learn 3D modeling and I'd like to ask a few questions. Would I be able to make models for FC2 with the program I am using now, GMAX? Also, if I did make a model for FC2, would I need to learn anything else to put the model in the sim? Thanks.
joey45 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 no. you need 3ds max 8... cos thats what the plugins are for. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Agg Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 As joey said, you need Max 8 (Max 7 works as well) to be able to export your models in .lom format (which is the format that FC reads). There is nothing else that you need to learn, but remember that learning a 3d package like 3ds Max is a huge undertaking, so stick with it even if you feel that you've gone in too deep. I would also recommend you buy some books or dvds on 3ds Max, it really helps out in the learning process. Personally I love the dvds from 3d Buzz.com, they are really informative and very helpful even if your not a complete newbie modeler. The "3ds Max Fundamentals" dvd even has a tutorial on how to make an F-14 ;)

Sel94 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 Thanks for the tips guys. I think I will get to learn this a little better before I spend money on a program for this. I'm having a lot of fun learning, but gosh, it's hard!
