Hi guys,

I've got a few questions that I don't seem to be able to find answers to and could do with help:

1. Is there a way to get the Shkval to automatically centre on a selected datalink target or do I always have to manually pan to it?

2. How do I get my wingman to fly to a specified datalink point? I know that I need to use the "DLINK IP" button on the PRTz, but when I pass the datalink point and then order him to "Go to datalink point" I always get the response "unable".

3. Is the Vikhr really the right tool for dealing with guys with Iglas? I can't get close enough to use cannon (and I'm terrible with rockets) but I hate "wasting" a guided missile on an infantry man.

Any help or insight you can provide on these questions would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!

There is always error margin (coordinates ect matters), so rarely it will direct you exactly on target.

When you're moving deploy some flares and fire... cannon range is sometimes even above 4 km so it is huge range for cannon. Usually I fire missile against it... I loose missile, not helicopter if flares weren't helpful :P

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Do you use the 'targeting mode reset', and then click the datalink ingress (so it flashes) before you send try to him away?

Had some probs myself since, until I did it that way.

I'm not too worried about errors in precision. The problem is that I don't know the process for centring on the target in the first place. :)

I think so. My process is this:

1. Use Shkval to find a good location to send my wingman.

2. Activate the laser.

3. "Target" the point on the ground that I'm interested in.

4. Select "Other" and then "Send/Mem" on the PRTz.

5. Hit "Reset".

Then I've tried a bunch of combinations on:

1. Hit "Other" to make the point of interest flash on the ABRIS.

2. Select "2" for Wingman #2.

3. Hit "Send/Mem" to send the point.

4. Order Wingman #2 to go to the Datalink point.

or

1. Press "DLINK IP" on the PVTz.

2. Hit "Other" to make the point of interest flash on the ABRIS.

3. Select "2" for Wingman #2.

4. Hit "Send/Mem" to send the point.

5. Order Wingman #2 to go to the Datalink point.

Nothing seems to work for me. I don't get it...

Re-discovering America again? It's all in the FAQ. If you didn't find the FAQ section on datalink helpful then post what part of it was not clear to you, what was missing etc.

It is also a good practice to post a short track depicting the problem. If you care about solving your problem fast that is.

6. select other (see it blinking), select wingman, select send.

7. radio wingman to go to datalink target.

Should be enough, just tried it myself (and lost all my combat score for testing the cannon against wingman when he were at datalink point :P )

Ah, it's the friendly, welcoming and helpful community spirit that keeps me coming back again and again. :)

I have an answer to my second question now, thanks, but I'm still unsure of the right answer to question 1. Any takers?

1. There is a method, altough I don't remember it right off the top of my head.

Sorry.

Any takers?

EDIT: As for some members replies here, yes I agree with you Pizzicato. Totally uncalled for having such replies.

For question 1, from the top of my head.

- Download datalink target as normal

- reset Shkval (turn off)

- select the downloaded target by pressing the associtaed datalink button so that the target is blinking on the Abris

- press DL Ingress button on the datalink panel

- turn back on Shkval

Should slew right to the target. Again, top of my head but should work.

Gor Question 3, if you can't close enough for guns, you really have no other choice but Vikhrs.

Thanks Crunch - I appreciate it.

I'll give that a go tonight and report back.

It's no brainer that you're referring to my reply. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to come out like that. That 'America' part is an unneeded direct translation from Polish saying.

As for the rest - sustained! :)

Referring to FAQ prior to posting a question (especially in a new topic) and posting a track is a good practice. If a FAQ&ForumSearch reminder is being taken as 'unfriendly' then there has to be some misunderstanding for sure. I hope it has been cleared up in this case.

From my old notes:

:book:Slave SHKVAL to DL targets

There's even a reference to specific chapter in the manual.

Great. That's exactly the info I need.

Thanks Bucic.
