POV = Point of view (this is your hat switch) and D= down.

So you will have U=up, L=left and R=right.

I also use the TFlight Hotas and have almost all the normal switches mapped on the joystick and throttle.

If you have TrackIR this also helps as you can then use the hatswitch (POV) for other things.

I use a 2 modifiers so that I can use the hatswitch for 3 things, with modifier one it controls the TGP/MAV/TAD slew, with another modifier it contorls trim and with the other it controls left and right MFD and HUD SOI. I did this all in sim without any Thrustmaster software (no need).

Takes a while to get used to them but with time it will become natural!!

I have this joystick, and I have 2 sets of modifiers with it, along with xpadder.

works great, however im thinking of customizing it with some switches, to look more like a hotas. lets wait and see

HELP!

Ok, I got asparagin's .txt converted to a .lua file and got it loaded for the "game" config on my TM HOTAS X, but now the default keyboard assignments got cleared. How can I get the defaults back on for the keyboard assignments?

Also, do I just do the same thing for the "sim" joystick assignments as I did for the "game" to get asparagin's .lua file loaded? Thanks in advance guys!

I assume you are asking about what joystick configuration since the rest is rather evident. I would be curious as well.

Greetings,

I have a few problems with my Thrustmaster X Settings.

1.) I want to use the throttle to maximum speed, but when I move the throttle to max-position, I only get about half the max speed.

2.) I want to maintain a stable altitude, when I release the joystick, but the dcs flies upwards.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Hisoka and welcome to the forums.

1) Please check with the hotas connected under:

Options/Controls/

Here you have 2 drop down menus:

first choose how you fly (sim or game)

and from the second drop down menu:

Axis commands/ choose throttle common and axis tune.

You get the picture with the response axis of your stick.

Normally if you push the throttle all the way up, both points (you'll get it when you do it) should be down-left, and the response line should drop from right-up to left-down. Is it so?

2) To maintain a stable altitude when you release the stick you have to fly an F-16 :D

In the A-10C you will have to use the trim function for that (see manual)

Hello Asparagin,

thanks a lot for the answers.

1.) When I push the throttle stick back, a big square is middle-right and a small square is up-right. When I push the throttle stick forward, the big square is middle-left and the small square is down-left.

2.) There's just sooo much information hidden in those 700 pages, but I'll do some more studies.

Greetings,

Hisoka

Maybe have that rocker switch on the back of the throttle be your Ctrl/Shift? I can see alot of combinations with that actually.

If you have a webcam, get Facetrack so you can free up another use with that hatswitch.

Hatswitch - Coolie Hat

+Ctrl - TMS

+Shift - DMS

L2 - China Hat Fwd

R2 - China Hat Aft

(button on front of throttle) - Autopilot

+Ctrl - Path Hold

+Shift - Altitude/Heading Hold

See where I'm going? You could maybe use that front button on the throttle as an +Alt aswell :)

Ahh, that clears it up:

Check "slider" (should be on) - right of the response curve- and you will be good.

Take you time, there is really a lot too learn, but getting there is a lot of fun (at least for me and others here). Set realistic goals and you will enjoy it!

If I am reading your post correctly then...

When you load a profile it is controller specific. Before you click load profile you need to click on an entry in the column for the stick. It sounds like you are loading the lua over you keyboard settings as well as the stick.

If you could walk us through what you are doing when you install the lua it would be helpful.

I think you are right, i just put back the default keyboard.lua then scrolled down and selected a joybtn and then went to load profile. before that i went straight to load profile

Yep. That sounds like what happened. You are not the only one to do that. Luckily, it is easy to fix.:D

Yes indeed that it was, however not sure if everything is ok tho, i can't seem to map the engine startup to the keyboard, the field is not editable, however in the hotas colum it is, just starting to get confusing here lol

All the fields in the controls screen can be changed.

What are you trying to map? Engine startup is arlready mapped, separately and as a cheat start procedure.

Hi exangelus: you want to do the following:

go in DCS options/ controls and assign buttons 5,6,7,8 as modifiers (controls screen down left/ select your hotas and the buttons you want to use)

then you will have 5 hat switches by pressing 5 + HAT, 6+HAT etc.

it works very well.

Hi asparagin, have downloaded your profile, changed the .txt to .lua and loaded it in the folder you suggested. When in DCS I try to load the profile it is invisible, even in my download folder. I know this thread is quite old now and DCS has changed a lot since, maybe this could be the problem, or it may be as I am still quite new to this simming thing I am missing something simple. Any help would be appreciated. Iam running this on an imac through bootcamp on windows 7 32bit.

The profile is really old, I´m not sure it works. But still:

In the current DCS version you can save the profile anywhere, it doesn`t matter. Just to make sure I understand correctly: when you search the file you can´t find it?

I downloaded also the file I seeing it is not a problem even with the current version. Maybe a imac/bootcamp problem?

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. Anyway, I resolved the problem. Instead of just changing the .txt to .lua, I copied the whole file and saved the file as a .lua file, opened DCS, and it all works, have yet to try it in game, but it loads up.

I also have a profile for the Blackshark which has two modifiers, since loading your profile for the A-10, every time I go to the Shark I now get conflict bindings and have to remove the modifiers from the A -10 and replace the Sharks. Is this normal? I had saved the profiles once everything had been binded, including the modifiers in both profiles, but DCS does not seem to save the modifiers for the specific aircraft. Each time I am choosing A-10 sim & KA 50 sim. Is this a simple fix?

Once again, thanks for your help.
