Using pdftotext and a diffing tool, I've listed some of the major differences between the beta 1 and beta 2 manuals:

  • Introduction, features list - Removed feature: Online achievement tracking, dynamic campaign, and chat rooms
  • Stores: Added description of the CBU-97
  • Stores: Discussion of bang-bang guidance
  • Stores: Added description of CBU-105
  • China hat aft long in AIM-9 mode: Slaves AIM-9 to TGP
  • TISL panel: Added note saying it is not implemented in the sim.
  • Analog altimeter: ELECT/PNEU switch relabeled as functional
  • KY-58: Correct description for RV mode
  • IFF panel: Relabeled as not implemented in the sim.
  • Short explanation of what DTSAS is
  • ... and what a bitball is :)
  • Expanded digital 9-line explanation
  • Increased number of fundamental forces of flight from three to four; give a warm welcome to gravity
  • Explanation of why airbrakes should be half open during landing, and how to use the AOA indexer during landing
  • Added explanation of FLAPS indicator on MAV page
  • Added explanation that slewing the Mav cursors destabilizes them (don't we all know...)
  • Radios - Now explains an "easy tuning" and "realistic" mode for the radios. Easy tuning has the auto-tuning, frequency list, and color coding; realistic does not.
  • Completely rewrote and expanded JTAC explanation
  • Expanded electrical system description
  • Added morse code for punctuation in reference

"Online achievement tracking, dynamic campaign, and chat rooms"

This was in the beta 1 manual. Also, everything that I have read there will be no dynamic campaign.

Strange, I've downloaded the beta 2 manual and checked the beta 1 manual, no mention of Online achievement tracking, dynamic campaign, and chat rooms. Using the english versions

Ah sorry, I mixed it up. The "online achievement tracking, chat room, dynamic campaign" feature was REMOVED in the beta 2 manual.

Sorry for getting your hopes up =/

Good job Stretch!

I was going over writing out steps for start up and it seems the stuff about radio setup is either out of place, or there is a paragraph/sentence that could be removed/changed.

p. 420

"Most often you will have configured the radios when starting the aircraft, but if not, now is the time to do so."

I read this as that the engines are already running, which they are not yet in the start up flow in the manual. In the beta 2 manual this comes it right after you have started the APU and the APU is powering the systems. This seems like a good time to set up the radios, so maybe this sentence just needs to be removed. Unless, the radios aren't supposed to be set up until after the main engines are running.

I activate the radio's before engine start, as cold start procedure has you as the pilot asking ATC for permission for engine start.

Just hit the battery switch, the inverter switch to standby, and then DC battery power is available for the radio's. Set all 3 up and dont forget to use the Mic Switch to access the on screen prompts.
