ZaltysZ Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I don't like current A10 context based radio menu. If it wasn't based on context and every command had distinctive "key press path", then everything would work well with VAC. However, currently same "key press path" has to be used for multiple commands according to context and that requires user to pay lots of attention. For example, ATC list is not permanent and contains only neutral and friendly ATCs ordered by range. Obviously this list can vary from mission to mission and even plane position, so it is not possible to create something like "Mozdok Inbound" in VAC, because you can't know which keys will be needed in advance. Same for other communicators (like JTATC). Fortunately, radio menu is written in lua, so user still has ability to "fix" it by himself. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
Stretch Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Awesome! Thanks. maybe post in the Profiles section as well. Small suggestion so as not loose realism-maybe refer to menu items as 'Menu 2," and leave flight member number as '2' etc. I thought about that, but then you would have to say "Tower menu 2 inbound" as opposed to "Tower 2 inbound" which sounds a little better. People can of course edit to suit their needs. eric963 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Is there anything we can modify so that when we issue a voice command that we don't hear the command being issued by our virtual pilot? Eric
Dejjvid Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I'm bumping this legendary thread! This thread contains idea's about a select/scroll function to the radio menus in DCS series. Here's a quick recap: The mic switch should be working as it it now. Forward is AM, down is UHF and back is FM. But after the comm menu is open, you use up and down to scroll up or down (moving a little caret in front of the selection), and forward/push to confirm/select and back to cancel/close. From my perspective, this can't be hard to accomplish for ED. And implementing this into the code should hardly produce additional bugs or misbehaviour of other parts of the sim. Is it possible for a 3rd party developer to implement this function as a mod? i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
Migo Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 There is the clickable radio communinication mod which is pretty cool.
Dejjvid Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 That is better then the current system, but if you could keep your hands on the hotas all the time, it would be superb. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
cichlidfan Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I have a logitcech G15 keyboard and all the keys are lit so not a problem for me! G510 here, so I have no problem either, but if they want to add that to patch 1.0.2.? it would be fine with me.:D ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!
