Georgio Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 For those (like myself) who have a WH but no working pedals; waiting on an adaptor for my RCS rudders atm. So finding slider on the throttle a bit clunky and not wanting to resort to using the keyboard I thought I'd try using the split throttle as a form of poor mans thrust vectoring to steer during take offs and landings and it actually works quite well. Obviously you have to only little amounts of differental but after using this for a few hours I prefer to keep the throttles split now all the time. The more time I spend with this kit and the warthog the better it gets :smilewink:
Succellus Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Ialready heard pilot doing this not military but civilian HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Track IR 5, Hall sensed Cougar, Hall sensed TM RCS TM Warthog(2283), TM MFD, Saitek pro combat rudder, Cougar MFD.
Gearbox Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 It is actually possible to land an aircraft that has lost all other control inputs this way, though it's not easy and has only been done successfully once: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Baghdad_DHL_attempted_shootdown_incident Another one, the plane broke up on landing but most of the passengers survived. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_232
104th_Crunch Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 That sucks. Are you saying you cannot use rudder pedals with a TM:WH? What about say CH Rudder pedals that simply have their own USB plug?
MTFDarkEagle Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 You cannot use rudder pedals through a tm:wh, true (like it was via the cougar). Try and get your hands on a independant usb-pedal set. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
kylania Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I've been using the Z and X keys myself since I can't afford rudder pedals (or food!) after just buying the WH. It's a little touchy, but works! heh [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Succellus Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I knew real pilot, where it alive he would have like 98 years or so that used it for take off on snow muddy terrain and other situation to correct plane yaw due to irregular soil. There s also the case of an UPS plane in iraq that loosed most of his hydraulic after being hit probably by FF that did it, i doubt i still have the PPT.
