jazjar Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 What if I am in the middle of engaging a JTAC-assigned target, and I run out of the weapon he assigned me to use on the target. What do I do then? Do I use another weapon without his authorization? Or do I somehow inform him of this? I have not come across this yet, but I want to be prepared when it does occur. Revelation Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I imagine a script will run. If you look at the way the JTAC missions play out currently, the pilot will give the JTAC their initial loadout - even if they are out of all weapons. A script can run "behind the scenes" that will give a true/false flag on weapon availability and a correct JTAC response would select the next available weapon. The script could even identify what a pilot has left in way of ordinance and read out the correct load-out currently available. nomdeplume Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I ran out of LGBs during a JTAC-controlled attack on some tanks and they told me to switch to GBU-31 automatically, without any prompting etc. When I ran out of weapons altogether (except for gun) he told me to abort and go home. This was against tanks, so I guess he felt the gun wasn't entirely useful in that situation.
