First of all thank you for these great campaigns.

I just started and I'm in BFT-02. While I was taking off my right engine caught fire and because of my low altitude I couldn't turn back and ejected. I played with random failures on. The instructor terminated the mission and after told me that I should be dead and that I destroyed my plane he prompt me to study and fly the mission again.

I was wondering that it would be great if after a random failure instructor terminate the mission and order the pilot to immediately land or eject in case of emergency. That would enhance the immersion I think. That's my thoughts.

Thanks again for your effort.

I feel like a real pilot and I really enjoy the sim now

AFT02 is broken in 1.2.7. No ILS at Kobuleti makes it impossible to land. I tried editeding the mission to remove the thunderstorm, but the tanker just flies away at speed after RVCP.

Having the exact same problem today! I did manage a risky landing with no ILS though. Was this resolved?

The same thing seems to be the case with AFT01 and AFT03. ILS just won't work when I dial in Kobuleti's frequency. Haven't tested the other missions yet. The ILS worked fine in the BFT campaign, but that was Batumi, so I'm not sure.

Kobuleti ILS will work fine with any new mission I make.

I can't explain why the AFT missions cause a problem with ILS at Kobuleti as it's not something the mission editor can directly control or influence.

Short of re-doing the AFT missions starting from a fresh mission template (which would be alot of work to re-test, etc) we did create an updated version of AFT02 in the current user downloads with a fix. The single mission and the associated campaign were both updated. Check the first post for the download links.

You can fly VFR for AFT01 and AFT03. If we do get to a point of redoing those missions we will certainly try and fix the issue then.

Just to confirm, you did end up fixing the ILS in AFT02?

Because I just installed the latest version of the missions (1.3) and unfortunately it's still not working.

In any case, still loving your work and I can't wait to see more!

No we couldn't fix the ILS @ Kobuleti but we provided a divert airbase where the ILS was still working so you could land and complete the mission.

I was just going to say "I see what you did there!"... Flying the mission at this moment and just got the divert message. Thanks!

Hi I'm trying the 1st training mission on startup and taxi, is there any secret to get the Humvee to start driving? I've done the cold start as per checklist not sure if there's an extra step. Thx!

He should start driving at 09:15 provided you completed the start-up checklist correctly.

What was the last message you heard?

Did you hear: "Let me confirm your startup procedure..."

Then if all is well: "Startup looks good".

Then after that: "Ok Cadet. Let's test your ground handling skills. Follow me!"

If you missed a switch action the FE should call it out.

Thanks Sabre, also can I just add these missions to my orig. DCS A-10C (from released dvd) install missions\ folder, or do they only work on a newer DCS World Beta release?

Thanks so much for these training missions, this is really what new pilots need to stay interested / motivated over the initial (huuuge) learning curve :-)

Oops, forgot to say I did not hear "Let me confirm your startup procedure" but I'll try again now and keep track of the msgs.

Just tried again: no comm / action from instructor after 9:15.

Last message heard: "Dodge 1 passing waypoint 3.."

The current version of the missions have been tested on DCS World 1.2.7. I'll retest again on 1.2.8 however I don't know if they are functional on the original DCS A-10C anymore.

There have been a large number of changes between the original DCS A-10C and the current DCS World A-10C module with many bug fixes in between so we are developing and testing against the latest DCS World content.

Is there a reason you want to use the original DCS A-10C module? I recommend you move to the DCS World A-10C module if you can to ensure stable missions and get the latest bug fixes.

I upgraded to the latest DCS World A-10C module today; I just hadn't realized all the updates were for the DCS world modules, and not the A-10C stand-alone. Had no trouble running the mission; thx!!! (Now I need to upgrade my video card :-)

Hi there.

I'm currently re-installing DCS World, version 1.2.8 with update 1. I just wanted to know which maple flag missions do i have to install, the Normal versions or the OpenBeta Versions?

I'm using the basic and advanced training missions for the a-10c.

(btw, i just purchased the tactical training missions, can't wait to try them out)

Regards,

Milli

The normal versions are designed to work with the normal released DCS World versions.

The OpenBeta version has an updated installer to put the missions into the OpenBeta folder paths. The missions are identical for both but may play differently given the differences between the released DCS World versions and the OpenBeta version.

Note that there is a current issue with the briefing text in 1.2.8.27915 as reported here. ED Testers have confirmed it's fixed in their test environment but we will need to wait for the next patch to see it fixed in the current game. I recommend staying on 27203 if you want to see the full briefing text. If you want to downgrade follow these steps:

At Windows START

Type CMD

Window Opens with Command Prompt.

Type: CD C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bin\ or to the path that your DCS World is installed in.

Type: DCS_updater.exe update 1.2.8.27203

If you want to stay on the latest version 1.2.8.27915 then I recommend that you download and install the documentation package so you can read the full briefing before flying the missions.

Please post your feedback as any changes will be incorporated into Part B and propagated back to Part A.

Thanks.

I've just finished the first mission of the new Tactical Training Qualification campaign, and I must say you have outdone yourself. Very good desgigned mission, perfect missionbrief, can't wait to fly the rest of it.

If you can't fly MP, and you want some realistic training. I can highly recommend this one!!

Thanks Terry for another awesome campaign.

Thanks for the feedback. If there is anything you would like to see changed please let us know.

We are still finishing off Part B so we can incorporate feedback into that part and then propagate those changes back into a later Part A update.

I'm interested in this.

How many A-10C missions are there in total? 37, grouped into 3 campaigns that cost $15 total?

What's going on with the tactical campaign though? Not all 15 missions done?

Checking our website there's no tactical thing yet so I suppose it’s not out yet at all? But there are stand-alone missions called ITT and AFT... what're they? Not mentioned in here.

$15-20 to the starving unofficial editors to an obscure simulator video game doesn't sound so bad.

Yes, Part A of the Tactical Campaign is completed (7 missions) but Part B is still undergoing development and testing.

Once Part B is released your mission key for Part A will install it so no additional costs or keys are involved.

Our development model was to start with some single missions first (ITT01 - Start-up and ITT02 - Shutdown). These missions test your ability to follow the check lists (included as pdf files).

Then we progressed into the Basic Flight Training Qualification Campaign (12 missions).

Completing this campaign gives you the Basic Aircraft Qualification (BAQ). These missions test your basic flight capabilities, take-off, landing, pattern flying, setting up and navigating to waypoints, aerobatics, handling emergencies, night flying and flying in formation.

The next campaign we developed was called Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification (10 missions). Completing this campaign gives you Basic Mission Capable (BAC) Qualification. These missions test your ability to air to air refuel, avoid threats and deploy countermeasures, and use the aircraft systems to bring weapons on target.

The final qualification campaign is called Tactical Training Qualification (15 missions).

Completing this campaign gives you Combat Mission Ready (CMR) Qualification. These missions test your ability to work with JTACs, act as an AFAC to instruct other aircraft, perform CAS, CSAR and conduct offensive operations on a moving battlefield.

We have tried to make the missions as realistic as possible and as close to doctrine as could be allowed.

There was interest in the standalone missions for Air to Air Refueling and Threat Avoidance so we released those as individual missions. This allowed players to experience these missions without having to purchase the Advanced Aircraft Training Campaign.

We have a 3rd party developers agreement with TFC/ED so a portion of your purchase goes to TFC/ED for future game development.

Cool, everyone are winners then.

To clarify: of the 5 stand-alone missions 2 are only start-up/shut-down and the 3 other are included in the AATQ?

So, knowing where all the start-up/shut-down buttons in the cockpit are, I will divert my attention toward the campaigns instead.

I love the dedication to realism around here... it's very respectable.

Not only because it’s amazing to be able to experience flying an aircraft as accurately as you will ever experience it unless you join the military and agree to murder civilians at the whims of politicians and what not... (ahem)

But as an avid video gamer I come from a world where the rules are made by people... and people are the worst :P

With simulators there will ideally not be any game mechanics to speak of. It’s a different beast entirely.
