Sabre, on the Maple Flag website is a screenshot clearly showing yellow tinted front windows on the left and right side.

Which mod did you use for that? I've tried Milli's one but that somehow also colours the canopy frame, this one doesn't.

DCS World 1.2.9.30604 Changed Tanker Communications

It appears the latest 1.2.9 update to DCS World has defaulted the tanker communications to 251 AM.

Unfortunately our Air to Air Refueling missions had the tankers coded to use 150 AM so using these instructions will no longer work.

We will be updating the mission documentation to use the 251 AM setting going forward.

For now if you are using DCS World 1.2.9 and any AAR mission instructing to contact the tanker on 150 AM, use 251 AM on the UHF radio instead.

By using the default 251 UHF AM setting going forward we hope to avoid issues like this with future DCS World updates.

I have a quick question concerning the victory conditions of AAT10, Missile Employment. According the the verbal instruction, only the tanks should be targeted (i.e., T-72s) for the moving convoy which is the last target. I killed the three tanks in the convoy but I was told by the instructor to "reengage." I then killed some of the armored personal carriers before deciding to return to base. When I parked, I failed the mission because I did not kill all of the targets.

So what exactly is the victory condition here? Do I need to kill the entire convoy (which is only doable with many gun passes since the missiles are limited) or just the three tanks? If just the three tanks are suppose to be killed, is it an error to tell the student pilot to "reengage" and that not all the targets were killed? The stand-alone practice mission of this campaign mission instructs to kill the entire convoy which is different unless my memory is completely failing me.

Yes you need to kill all the targets.

I believe the pre-mission briefing states that but it may be truncated in the latest version of DCS World because of this bug.

In mission the FE states:

"Your last target will be a moving convoy near WP 8. Target the tanks only with your remaining AGMs. You are permitted to finish any remaining targets using gun strafing."

This is because if you don't take the tanks out with the AGMs then you use up all your Gun rounds and won't be able to kill all the convoy elements.

Hi there

Do these missions teach you and THEN give you the exam, or is it all exam right from the off e.g. you are always being assessed?

I am looking for something that teaches me what I need to know as a beginner, but isn't giving me "Bad luck cadet, you failed <black screen, start again>" because I forgot my HOTAS commands or something.

Also sorry if its covered, but do you do an all-in-one or season pass type payment option?

Thanks

The qualification campaigns are "exam" type campaigns however we do provide practice mission packages for each of the campaigns as a separate download (unlocked with your campaign mission key).

They are Single Missions and playable from the Missions button so you can repeat them until you are confident you could pass the qualification mission. The practice mission packages usually contain extra dialogue and tips to help pass the missions.

We also provide interactive start-up and shutdown trainer/testers that include switch call outs and highlighting to help learn the switch locations and routine.

Recon Stewart has posted

with the missions including voice overs if you want to see how he performed them.

There are lots of sources to learn from including reading the manual, playing the game provided training missions, watching training videos and learning from others on multi-player servers.

All of that can help prepare you for the qualification missions.

Purchasing the mission key gives you the license and access to the mission files. A portion of your purchase goes to TFC/ED for future game development.

We continue to update the missions to ensure they play with the current versions of DCS World.

I recommend you read our Rules of Engagement and FAQ and feel free to contact us at mapleflagmissions@gmail.com if you have further questions. :)

Basic Flight Training Qualification - 04 - Approach and Landing by Recon Stewart

Instructor warnings like "you are above glide path" are irritating because its a purely VFR - Approach.

Here IAF is choosen at 2500ft, which is realistic.

Dcs-World/Su-25T IAFs are at 3050ft/1000m, which is quite high.

Did some testing and found the problem. It's related to the Humvee that drives away after dropping off the player at their plane.

I can't explain why that ground unit causes a problem in 1.2.9 and works fine in 1.2.8 but I deleted it and was able to complete the mission successfully.

I'll update the Humvee in all the missions and ensure they play ok and release an updated package.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

Hi there

Unfortunately your paypal site is not showing up as secure (no green bar on IE or padlock sign, and I get a "yellow warning triangle" on Chrome indicating insecure content).

Do you have any other secure payment options please?

Cheers

Hi

I'm not anything to do with maple flag but I just wanted to say that if you click the Check out with Paypal button as your payment option, then the paypal transaction will definitely be secure. Paypal doesn't share any financial info with maple flag (or any other merchant). You will have a secure content indication in your web browser when paying using paypals website.

The only info maple has on their "unsecure" website is what it is you want to buy and how much it is going to cost you. It is paypal who you will deal with when paying.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Milli

I'm having trouble remaining inside the MOA as I don't know where its boundaries are. Hence I'm wondering this, if the WP of which I can assume I have to fly to is at 055 because the instructor made me do some extensive manoeuvring, while he tells me to head for 040, what should I do? Follow the instructor's orders and head for 040 and get off the flight plan, or follow the flight plan?

The boundaries for the MOA are pretty close to as shown on the briefing diagrams.

Look for visual references (like a river, city or town, or major roadway) to align with and try not to cross that reference.

When flying the flight plan always fly to the WP location as the mission triggers are related to that location on the map.

The FE's instructions can sometimes seem off depending on how aggressive your maneuvers are. When in doubt fly aggressively (it's a combat bird) :)

Wait, do I need to use UHF or VHF AM? Isn't VHF AM limited to the 100-somethings?

Yes, the UHF is the AN/ARC-164 UHF Radio Control Panel in between the two VHF radios. The frequency range runs from 225.000 to 399.975 MHz.

It's down on the mic switch on the throttle (if you use a Warthog HOTAS).

Forward is VHF 1 Transmit, backward is VHF 2 Transmit.

I'm not sure what the matching keyboard presses are but most people have them mapped to controller buttons.

Flight Qualifications Campaign

Thought tankers normally use VHF AM, or is that a made up standard ED introduced?
