Migo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) I'm going to mount the Warthog throttle on an office-chair but because it's weight is about 3kg I want to know if the metal plate at the bottom is easily removeable. I know that SimHQ removed the plate to take a look insideOpening up the throttle, we see that an extra metal plate with weights has been added to the throttle base. Anyone who already removed that plate ? Will the screws still fit perfectly or will they be too long ? greetings Migo Edited December 5, 2010 by Migo
Midwestboi Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) From other threads I have read- the stick is held to the plate by four 4M bolts. Just buy 4M bolts in the length you need for your particular mounting system. herig2 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I took a piece of 11ga steel, cut out a circle, drill the screw holes, and weld it to a bracket that is screw to the chair. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slammin Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I hope that chair doesn't recline. You might blow your head off! MackTheKnight Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 rofl, didn't notice the background till you said that, Slammin. Too funny. =D Nice setup - wish I was able to do that with mine.
Vullcan Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 To answer your question about the throttle, the existing screws will fit but since they are designed with that extra spacer / weight plate in mind, you will be threading them deeper into the screw holes and it will take a bit of elbow grease to get them in. I would reccomend getting new screws that are just a few millimeters shorter so you do not have to over tighten the screws, the last thing you want is to strip the screw holes on that baby. I actually tack welded screws coming out of the bottom of my warthogs weight plate so I could set it ontop of the throttle mount plate which has holes for the screws to go through, and then tighten it down with wing nuts on the bottom of that plate. It holds it securly to my chair and allows for removal just by un twisting the wing nuts.
