I bought an LG monitor and its giving me a headace due to its low Refresh rate. Its 23inch and its set at 75Herts as it wont go higher, i have all the latest drivers for the monitor and the graphics card (EAH5770 with the huge heatsink). Did I buy a lemon or is there something wrong with me?, I can almost see the screen refreshing and at 60 herts my brain nearly passes out. My old monitor was set at 75 herts and I could use it all day with no problems. What am I doing wrong?

Can you give the monitors part number? It may be a 75hz monitors but it may have a long refresh rate. 2ms, 5ms, 7ms, and 10ms are very common to see. Lower is better. If it is 10+ then gaming will suffer. If you went from a lower resolution to a higher one, then you may have lost some FPS. If you simply have a larger screen and the same resolution as before, try to enable vertical snyc and up your anti alising.

Did you bought a CRT monitor?

it shouldn't be giving you any problems. How are you pluging into it? Dvi, VGA, or hdmi. I read a few bad reviews. If you got it from a store a trade for another one might be in order.

I have a similar one, W2353V, by the model number yours is probably a new version. Other then the very low viewing angle, mine works fine here.

Do you have problems with it only in games or in everything?

Some things to try:

* Set the refresh rate to 60Hz or any default, in LCD there no need for higher rates to eliminate flicker.

* Connect using the DVI or HDMI cable

* Don't use the auto-adjust settings or the "image improvement" options on the monitor, they cause artefact's on fast moving images.

I wonder if it's the brightness that is bothering him, try turning it down. I have mine both set to around 50, maybe even lower. If it is higher then that it bothers me.

I used 15" CRT at 85 Hz 800x600 and I thought it is too low refresh rate.

I bought LCD 20" at 60 Hz 1680x1050 and it is much much better that it has been before.... Dunno how can you get headache if refresh rate in LCD is not as same as in CRT. At first day using LCD I had troubles too, but on the second day all was OK :)

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Actually I always have the same problems (headache, eyes hurt) everytime I buy a new LCD. I usally start to turn down the brightnes, contrast... it takes your eyes some time to get used to a LCD. Just try it for some days and see if it gets better.
