vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Will the A-10 work with my TrackIR v5...if so how do I activate it? I downloaded my games in TrackIR but the DCS A-10 was not listed as a supported Sim. Thanks.
mjolner Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Yes TrackIR5 will work with the A-10C however only in 32 bit. You must load the 32bit files when you install the beta and then run the DCS A10C_x86.exe. Also if using win vista or 7 you need to run both trackir and DCS as admin. Currently there is no 64bit support for the beta, coming soon, so I hear.
vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 bummer! Yes I am running W7 64bit...guess i`ll have to wait :(
rud Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 You don't have to wait! When you install the game, there is an option to install the 32 bit binaries. Reinstall the A-10 Beta and make sure to select that option. I'm also on W7 64 bit, but I'm playing DCS A-10C with TrackIR just fine as long as I don't use the 64 bit DCS binaries.
power5 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 NO, pay attention. Install both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of A10 and you can run the 32 bit version (x86) to enable the use of TIR. If you did not check the box when installing, you will need to reinstall. vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 64 bit I`m afraid i`m running only 64bit and I don`t want to reinstall this monster again! DCS is in the " program file " folder not in the " program file (86) " folder...so i`m assuming I checked the 65 bit only:cry:
Dethmagnetic Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 There is a workaround that lets you use TrackIR with the 64-bit client - see this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60706 It works perfectly for me. Para_Bellum Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Ermmm... what's the problem with de-installing/re-installing? 10 minutes of your life lost? ;)
vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Ermmm... what's the problem with de-installing/re-installing? 10 minutes of your life lost? ;) 10 minutes!!! each download took me hour, this was about a month ago.
Kuky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 10 minutes!!! each download took me hour, this was about a month ago. So you downloaded the files... installed the game and deleted installation files? DoH! Next time you download the files keep them on the HDD (or burn on DVD) so that when you want to reinstall the game you don't have to download the files again 1 PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 I still have the files but assumed they would take more than 10 minutes to install as someone commented on this thread.
Bulletstop Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 It shouldn't and make sure you check the 2 boxes it will install the 32 bit and trackir will then work. Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. A X-65F Hotas with trackir4 and pro combat peddles. A kick butt home built machine unfortunately running a windows 7 OS.
DiabloSP Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Honestly, I'm not triying to be rude, but I think that if you don't have the patience to reinstall the sim, loosing maybe 2 minutes of your time (yes, you can keep doing anything else while it installs!) you won't have the patience to learn how to fly it. Good luck mate!
Smoky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Honestly, I'm not triying to be rude, but I think that if you don't have the patience to reinstall the sim, loosing maybe 2 minutes of your time (yes, you can keep doing anything else while it installs!) you won't have the patience to learn how to fly it. Good luck mate! Totally agree. While I'm completely on-board with helping new guys with technical issues, we're not here to fish for you, just to show you how. Anytime I hear someone cry "I'm not computer literate" or "not well versed with computers", then what I believe is actually being said is "I do not want to learn, please tell me over and over again how to do this." DiabloSP said it perfectly...if you don't have the patience for this stuff you either need to develop that patience or move on to other games that will not be so taxing. I understand the flight sims draw in the older/less skilled crowd, but cmon! Besides, learning to deal with computers is a fraction as complex as learning the ins-and-outs of this A10. If you think the TIR workaround is stressful then you really need to see about getting your money back from DCS A10, and go buy an Xbox or something. You will be MUCH happier and experience MUCH less stress in your life. The very existence of this thread (one of about 10 on the same subject) suggests that the OP is a wee bit on the lazy side and didn't even bother to search first. Again, I don't have a problem with computer illiterates who WANT to TRY and LEARN. But those who cry out at the smallest of procedures are in over their head with DCS. DCS "study" sims are for folks who enjoy learning. There's no way around it.
ilikepie Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I understand the flight sims draw in the older/less skilled crowd, you mean techno savvy.......it requires more skill to learn something new when you are older. i can understand the frustration of both parties, the teacher and the pupil, i agree that its better to have someone learn a skill than do it for them, and who you calling old.....? (JK) :P Action After Contemplation
Smoky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hey I'm 36, which is "old" compared to the windows-spoiled "never typed a directory path in DOS" crowd. But I also know plenty of flight sim guys in the 50+ demographic, but most of those are more than willing to learn. The ones who aren't....are a HANDFUL. lol
vegachavez Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Just to let you all know i`m 63 yo...but that is not an excuse. It took me 25 years to become an artist and never gave up, if i`m passion et about something I will succeed. A month or so I made the mistake of asking my wife that I want to try Combat Simulators for a hobby, my best friend plays them and I was very excited about them. My wife and my friend got together and got me the TrackIR and the DCS A-10 ( my choice to try the A-10 ) as a birthday gift. I must admit it all became overwhelming trying to learn both, but I think I have made much improvement in the three weeks that have passed. The criticism does not bother me, You learn as you get older how to filter them. What does bother me is all the assumptions that are made when you don`t know the person`s history behind the thread. I only have one more week left before my friend returns from his travel to help me get through this. All this being said I did have a lot of help on this forum from may members who did help me and I did make an effort to let them know how much I appreciated it.
Gexor Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I realize this is my first post, how come I can't access that other thread for instructions on track ir 5 with the 64 bit binaries?
vegachavez Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Does this help? There is a workaround that lets you use TrackIR with the 64-bit client - see this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60706 It works perfectly for me. __________________ DCS Wiki - a wiki for DCS: Black Shark and DCS: A-10C Warthog (still a work in progress, let me know if you want to help out)
Gexor Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Yea that's the link however I see the message below whenever I click on it. :( Gexor, you do not have permission to access this page. vegachavez Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 THIS IS ALL THE INFO ON THAT LINK. Shhh... don't tell NaturalPoint or they might stop working on their 64bit software ok? There is a workaround for enabling full 6DOF TrackIR support in the 64bit DCS A-10C client. It's a bit of a kludge, but as far as I can tell it works flawlessly. You'll need: tir2joy ( I guess these are downloads from the internet ) PPJoy Run the PPJoy installer and be sure to follow the instructions to enable test-signed drivers (you should see the text, "Test Mode, Windows 7, Build XXXX" in the bottom right corner of your desktop). Run the PPJoy Joystick and Gamepad configuration utility ("Configure Joysticks" in the PPJoy start menu group) and click Add, and then Add again to create "PPJoy Virtual Joystick 1". Simple enough, now close the configuration utility. Run tir2joy.exe and leave it running in the background while you fire up DCS A-10C 64bit. Now it's just a matter of mapping the appropriate PPJoy Virtual Joystick axes and you're finished. The attached image shows how the axes looked for me but yours may be different and require some fiddling. Enjoy! 1
