Actually it did not cost any extra for the warranty. You can choos to buy extra but you don't have to. But then again I am not the luckiest guy in the world. I have actually had to use warranties in the past that if I would not of had them it would of cost me more. So i feel if a company is going to offer a lifetime warranty on there product it reflects on the quality of there product.

Right. I know EVGA makes good stuff (or I wouldn't have bought an EVGA mb. hehehe).

Kinda funny...I can't remember the last time I had to use a warranty, and now within a week or two I sent a camera lens in for warranty and now my GTX275.

Price wise and quality wise I am looking at an EVGA 470, maybe a 480, ideally factory overclocked. 480 seems to beat 570 by a smidge at present, so if either were on sale I would consider that.

From a 9800gtx, any upgrade will be good at this point.

My plea to family was heeded and I am showered with ~$450 in Tiger gift cards. :D

Can someone do a test with the GTX 570 but in Windowed mode?

I'm trying to determine if I'm going to try a 460/470/570/580 for my primary card. In Fullscreen, my tri-sli 8800GTX's do just fine. However in Windowed mode, it drops down to almost half performance.

Just curious to see what a 3.0Ghz+ machine with a 570 will do in Windowed.

Thanks

Tim

Great thanks! My reference missing so far is:

Instant Action - Easy East Georgia Spring

Current running Medium, HDR On, all else off (TSSA, MSAA) to get best fps with my setup.

I take a reading paused looking up at the sun and then a general avg fps while flying towards the first target.

Thanks again

Tim

Ok Tim, I was able to do the test as you requested and here is the results.

First of all I have all my settings to high. With the exception of a few. Water I have on medium and civ traffic I have low.

I went ahead and took off fullscreen so this is the results.

Paused looking at the sun i was getting 140FPS.

Looking straight ahead still paused I was getting 65FPS.

Unpaused flying to first target area Avg FPS was around 55 - 60.

This was tested using Beta4 build and the 64bit DCS.

I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed and no sli as i only have one card at this time.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

well I went for the normal EVGA GTX 570. Nowhere seemed to have the superclocked version in stock at a price I thought was reasonable in the UK.

I hope it arrives before new year, but deliveries here are still quite messed up, so I'm not holding out any hope.

Bought a prolimatech megahalems with two Akasa Apaches whilst I was there, as i got money for cooling as a Christmas present.

Sounds good rusty. I got mine from newegg but I live in the USA. So I would have no idea on shipping to the uk. I still think you will be happy with the results. I am.

Oh and rusty just so you know that your psu has to have a minimum of 38amps on the 12v rail for the 570. Just thought I would let you know.

So I've ordered the Coolermaster 800W Silent Pro Gold Modular PSU which says it has 65A on the +12V1 Rail, whatever that really means, so I guess that should be ok?

Other specs I've read (which look a little more accurate as far as I can see say it has a single +12v rail giving up to 98A

sounds like it will be fine. it take 2 six pin connecters for the one card just might want to make sure that the psu says that it was sli ready and it should be fine.

hope you get your stuff soon. I use to be a FedEx driver. So I know its a pain when there is snow.
