GAJ52 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hi Guys I need some help please with A-10C beta 4. I'm using Track IR 4 with the hat mounted Trackclip, the new 5.1 beta 02 software and Wags DCS profile. Problem is I can't look down at the radio's with the view jumping all over the place. If I'm lucky I can use pause just at the right time and see the radios at a side on view - not very practical. I have tried different zoom levels but nothing seems to get a smooth vies of the side panels. Anyone know what I may be doing wrong  Glen GAJ52 Intel i7-7700K @ 4.60GHz | 32 GB Ram | Win 10 Pro 64 | GTX 1080i 11.00MB | Saitek X52 Pro
beers Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 You're at the edge of functional angels in TIR. You can 1) readjust your clip/hat so that it is pointed a few degrees more upward and re-center. This way when you are looking down, the angles on TIR aren't so oblique (and you really ought not have to spend much time looking straight up anyway). 2) when you center TIR lean forward an inch or two. When you sit back after centering you will find your virtual ass a few inches back in the seat and it makes it easier to see the radios. 3) reposition your TIR camera, maybe on your desk instead of on top of the monitor. 1 2600K @ 4.2GHz, MSI P67A-GD55, 16GB G.Skill @2133 , GTX 970, Rift, SSD boot & DCS drive [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GAJ52 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Many thanks I'll give what you said a go  GAJ52 Intel i7-7700K @ 4.60GHz | 32 GB Ram | Win 10 Pro 64 | GTX 1080i 11.00MB | Saitek X52 Pro
Weaponz248 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I normally just pause the TIR and move the amera around until i can see the raios and then make my adjustments and then unpause the TIR. Also radios are easy to see when the throttles are FWD.
BTTW-DratsaB Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Beers' advise is pretty much the best you can do. For anyone wondering if it is worth getting a Track Clip Pro, this is exactly the sort of problem it fixes. Lindbergh Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I do this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62820&highlight=snapview and works great [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zamboni Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I had found a good TIR profile for myself, and then ditched it because leaning forward didn't make the HUD text any larger. So I mapped the z-axis to zoom. But that screwed up my head shift backwards so I could look at the radios. My Ideal solution....but I really think it would be impossible to implement: Head forward = zoom forward Head back = head movement back on the z-axis For now, I am just using snap views to get a look at the radios during startup.
Greb Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Before you kick APU power to the jet move your throttles into the forward position and set your freqs. Move your throttles back down and you are ready to go.
Gonzo01 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Not sure why but I increase my speed setting from 1.0 to 1.2 and it gave me and extra 30 degrees of down view.

If so you have to put some tape on the hat clip ( on the hat!), otherwise the camera see 4 clips and you get some red dots,And thats probably why the view is jumping. Cezar11 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Beers' advise is pretty much the best you can do. For anyone wondering if it is worth getting a Track Clip Pro, this is exactly the sort of problem it fixes. I have a track clip pro and I have to do some pretty extensive yoga in order to see the AM radio dials. It can be done, but it's pretty strange looking. Not sure it's a sure-fire fix. I use wags TIR profile and I use the zoom key to enlarge the hud text. I can look strait down and see my head is in the right spot. I can see just dialing the atc freq in before you start the apu, but you'd have to wait before setting presets ( i'm sure that needs power to do ) Home built i5 quadcore. dual ATI 4850 in xfire mode. 16GB ram Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Rudder, TrackIR 5, TM MFD's, windows 7 64 ultimate.. 40" primary screen, 19" secondary [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

What tape are you using and how? I don't use any tape and I don't see 4 clips or any red dots from the IR camera view, only 3 green circles. Sandman Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I had the same problem with TrackIR, and whilst the centering work-around does do the trick it's tedious to have to keep resetting it. So I ended up creating (what are better for me) snap views which focus on the instruments. hawka Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I don,t think you can use the switches while in snap view, how I do it is while looking up at the top of the cockpit then centre the trackir then look at the radios and set them up when finished look ahead and recentre trackir and this works very well Win 10,MB GA-X79S-UP5 cpu i7-3820 water cooled,GPU 1080ti ,psu corsair HX1200i,,ram Dominator 32GB trackir 5,VKB Gunfighter stick , throttle ,saitek x65f & CH pedals

Then you can press the Num keys corresponding to the view you want (i.e. you don't have to press and hold) and the view stays fixed until you press Num0 again (after which TrackIR comes back). Switches work fine for me doing it this way. Edited January 31, 2011 by Sandman Intel Core i7-950, 6GB Corsair DDR3, Nvidia GTX460 1GB, TM HOTAS Warthog, CH Rudder Pedals, Track-IR4Pro, Helios
RichardG Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 It doesn't work like that for me. RCntrl-Num0 will stick. But trying to use the other views after this kicks the trackir back on. The snap views don't stick. Are you using the Left WIN+ keypad numbers (snap views)? I can't get those views to stick.
Guest Cayenne Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 RichardG, Snap views are disabled with TIR, alot of people just map the TIR F9 freeze key to the hotas for better view and mousing....Try this edit with TIR you can see everything, just have to lean in to see the hud better, but is very realistic........http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68821&page=6
