REL Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Anybody knows what is that Push-button for ? :megalol: IMHO there is no manual reference ... :book:
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Tried pushing it? :P Maybe it's a reset button of some kind? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Luse Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 It's a reset button. STT Radar issue is leftover code.
26-J39 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Yes it a reset button.. Not sure if it's functional tho.
GGTharos Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 The g-meter records the highest and lowest g experienced by it. The button resets those needles. This is all IIRC. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Stretch Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I've never seen an accelerometer whose button did anything BUT reset the needles. We've got a Citabria at my flying club and the purpose of the button is to reset the needles so that the guy who booked the plane after you doesn't know you exceeded the 5.5-g structural limit when performing your split-S. (Oops.) I imagine that similarly the purpose of the reset button in military aircraft was to save you the embarrassment of having your crew chief know that you over-g'd the airplane on your last sortie, but nowadays with flight data recorders on all these aircraft there are no secrets. hassata Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Heard a pilot say he'd blow past the G-restrictions, then hit the button, then perform a nice 4 g turn before landing. Starfighter, so before tattle-telling computer chips lol. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SimFreak Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Yes, very bright. Return structurally unsafe aircraft without telling mechanic about little "boo-boo" so that next person can die in it.
