Bee_Sting Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 that sounds good! make sure that your graphic card has enough power to play games at high settings on the 27. i think lock on FC and black shark my have some problems with such a big screen, but i'm not sure please do some reading on this.
Cali Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have a 27" monitor and FC2 and DCS-BS have no problems with it. The res I fly with is 1920x1200, I have a old 8800GT. I get 20+ on the ground and higher in the air in both sims. I don't have heat blur or mirrors on, terrain and water are on med, I think water on high looks nice but unrealistic. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

RSharpe95 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I'd rather get an IPS 24" than a TN 27" running at the same resolution.

If not then the Dell U3011 can provide 30" of widescreen goodness. Or you can go for the older model that the above replaced, the U3008 which should save you a little bit. I would seriously put some research time into this as the monitor is the one component that you are probably going to be stuck with the longest. CPU's and other components come and go but the monitor sits on your desktop for years if you choose wisely. A good site for sifting through all the terms and monitor features is TFT central. Head over there to do some research. TomG Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Hi all, Thanks for the tips! I just buy an ASUS 27" screen namely the VE278Q (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=SqSPAYIsfecjo9GX)
RSharpe95 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 You should really see the monitor you plan on buying in real life before doing so. Especially large monitors using the cheaper TN panels. The uniformity in TN panels is awful, and it's far more noticeable on larger screens. TN monitors also suck in portrait mode.

*Rage* Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Hazro 30" Professional quality screen at 2/3 the price of the Dell. Had it for more than 3 years and its been flawless. Great build quality with the aluminium frame and stand as well. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
