Hey guys,

I used to love civ flight sims and would like to try them out again. My main fear was given how advanced DCS is, I'd hate to not have realistic systems and a good flight model..However having seen this:

I think I'm a bit more convinced...

Anyway, I've found a bundle of FSX, GEX, REX and UTX for pretty cheap here in the UK...How would this coupled with a PMDG plane be?

Hope you guys can advise :)

You might like this one too... not a civ flight, but nevertheless majestic and thrilling...

That's incredible - Though I bet there arent many astronaughts testifying to its realism :D I find the A10 a complex machine to learn...I can't begin to imagine the complexities of space flight. I mean, once you've escaped the earths gravity it's a totally new framework to learn. As an amatuer astronomer, my lifes ambition is to go into space one day, then I'll die happy :)

Richard Branson is an incredible man for bringing that dream a little closer to reality for us all....

Anyway, I'm ranting, drooling and off on a tangent..

Its good, especially with those add ons. Good for IFR and getting familiar with new airports or practicing at existing ones for RL pilots. Gets expensive if you get into the add-on scene. Be prepared to tinker and mess with hardware and software config to get it running the way you want. For me, there it's either A10 or Blackshark or Falcon or FSX, no way I'd have time for two of those concurrently. If you want more than Heavy Iron, I recommend:

I've either owned and liked, or heard good things, about the following aircraft addon makers, in terms of their realism:

PMDG

RealAir

ASA + AccuSim

VR Simulations

IRIS Pro series

Definitely find and use a config tweaker. Even if you bought your computer yesterday.

If you have purchased VRS F/A-18E for FSX you notice there's SP1 available.

Anyway VRS has own "virtual cockpit" viewpoint set up. Don't use the default one. Just right click somewhere and choose it from pop-up menu. You will then sit correctly inside the cockpit just as you are used with LOFC2.

By default you can change FOV with - =

TrackIR? Make own profile, adjust the curves.

I noticed I get the TrackIR lag when in the vc of the VRS Bug as well, and it doesn't have to do with the TrackIR profile. The VC and all its systems just use so much resources that it starts lagging the TrackIR.

If you open your FSX.cfg (...AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.cfg) and search for "WideViewAspect" and change the value to "True", it should fix the face against the windshield issue.

Must have add-ons:

- REX2 scenery + overdrive package

- Ezdok camera utility

- Active Sky Evolution

- PMDG aircraft

- A2A (accusim obviously) aircraft

- some aerosoft stuff (scenery, aircraft)

- Orbx FTX sceneries (ALL of them!)

- VRS Superbug X

- Lotussim L39 (the guy who made that has a Mig 29 in progress)

- some captain sim aircraft

That's about it as what I can think of now.. (not at home you see :P )

Hope this is of any help.

If you have any questions regarding installation/tweaking, drop me a pm :)

hey blaze thanks for the help. I'm on win7x64 and there is no folders or directories like that. Heck I can not even find where it put the VRS super bug X at?

I have FSX gold edition and

FSUIPC

VRS latest 1.1.0 sp1

the help is much appreciated as no one over there at VRS is even lifting a hand to help, they just moved my question from the support thread to the general questions page. lol

And sent me a nasty note stating this is not a VRS issue. lol

there for we moved your question into the general chat thread.

VRS Vermint.

Wow talk about losing $45.00.

They sux's. I won't be buying anything else from them.

Well, I've experienced second to none support from VRS and as far as I understand FSX configuration file isn't VRS responsibility, is it? There are many forums on FSX, you can ask FSX related questions there.

Problem is that many people want just jump into Superbug’s cockpit and instantly become aces there. As with real a/c it won’t work with VRS F-18E. You need a lot of practice, patience and studying to master Superbug.

Irrelevant; I was not asking about cockpit procedures. your just reading into something and your jumping to conclusions.

I want to know why I can not set up zoom in and out controls for inside the pit.

now is that so hard for them to answer? or they don't know them selves?

So were is the FSX forums, as I googled for them, and was at the official FSX web site and there is nothing on it.

I use Win7-64 also. ;) Make sure you have show hidden files and folders enabled, and it should be something like mine:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.cfg"

If you don't like manually editing files, TweakFS has made a handy freeware utility that makes it a breeze for most users to directly edit their FSX.cfg file.
