Conure Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Hey all, Have just had problem after problem with my X52 pro. Hardware seems to work, so I think it's software issues. Anyway, the latest is I've set CTRL + , . / ; to trim...each one works except for trim nose down..I have tried a reinstall...Ughh...Any ideas? Due to problems wih the software I have remapped all the keys 4 times now...I wont get it refunded etc as all the hardware works fine..Awful software.. The commands are mapped to pinky + POV 2...it seems the more commands you save to the profile the more errors it occumulates...I made a new profile and the command works...switch to the old one (set exactly the same) and it doesnt...I've never worked with such awful software...Have had a maximum of 90 minutes actually using the joystick and well over 6 hours of programming. Conure Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Oh also, why is that when I try to remove all joystick commands from the profile in game (the dcs a10 profiler) then save it and come back, the joystick has been reassigned to settings, even after ive reloaded the config? Thanks :) Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Spetz Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I avoid using the pinky except for a normal button and have never had a problem. As for the 2nd problem..that hasn't happened to me yet..
soupyc Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I use a shift state on mine and have no issues. Granted, its one mode, one shift state, but I have everything thats mapped on the real Warthog HOTAS mapped to my stick. You got the latest software? Latest drivers? Another interesting issue I found when creating mine is that the saitek software doesnt like file names longer than 15 characters when using Win 7 x64. What OS are you using? 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The voice of the F-14 "Ambush" Trailer and F-14 Tomcat Instructor Pilot My Rig: Intel i5-7600k | MSI Z-270A PRO | 16GB DDR4 2400 | MSI nVidia GTX 1660 Ti | Saitek X52 Pro | TIR 4 w Pro Clip
Sarge55 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Conure, The best thing to do is program the stick "in game". Assign the pinky switch as a modifier "in game". There are a few buttons etc that will not be recognized by DCS, the wheel IIRC is one but just work around it. The second thing is that the "Save As" function in the control panel doesn't work correctly as you have seen. You do not have to use it to save your changes, DCS will save any changes when you hit OK and exit to Options. To back up your settings just save the "Aircraft" folder which is under Config IIRC (I'm at work right now). Sarge55 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Conure, Go into Options/controls. On the bottom left there is a box that says modifiers (gold box around it). Click that and you should get a selection window called Modifiers panel. The panel has two windows, the one on the left is the one you want and it will have some buttons all ready listed. Do not remove any of them. There are to grayed out buttons under the window "ADD" and "REMOVE" click on the add button (no idea why they appear greyed out) and the add modifier window will open with Keyboard selected. Hit the drop down beside keyboard and select your X-52 joystick from the list. The next drop down below allows you to select the modifier button you wish to add. Click in it and I beleive all you have to do is press the pinky switch and it will detect it and enter it. If not then just find it from the drop down and enter it. Under that there is a final window where you can name the modifier just click in it and type "pinky" or whatever you want to call it. Click on the OK and you now have the pinky as a modifier in game. Now when you go to program a function and you want to use the modifier and another button just click in the modifier box, press the pinky button and it will be entered in the modifier box then click in the key/button box press the key or button you wish to assign and it should be entered. Click OK and you are go to go. Repeat as necessary. Before you uninstall SST (if you haven't already) print out a blank flight control system sheet. Delete mode 2, Mode 2+Pinky, Mode 3, Mode 3+Pinky first so you only have two columns. Then you have a work sheet to plan out how you want to layout the controls and buttons etc (make some copies if you can) use a pencil. ;) One column for initial action and one for the ones requiring the modifier. Hope that's helpful.
