StrongHarm Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) ED, I just finished a gratifying mission. I had 6 GBU12s, 4 AGM64D. I was sitting on the tarmac awaiting launch at just after 0600 watching the sun rise. I listened as a flight of F16s took out the air cover over a large valley where the battle was taking place 20 miles to the north. Immediately after air superiority was achieved, two flights of Apaches went in and took out most of the mobile air defenses. I was given the green and took off while checking in with FAC. They put me in on a few groups of tanks. After a few successful runs I took some lucky rounds from a ZSU I hadn't seen. I had one tank left in the group I was hitting, but both of my MFDs were out. I switched to mark and found Zulu for my last fire position. I went in guns hot and smoked the last tank. I want to thank you because on egress I got a message on my screen that said 'Sierra Hotel!'. It was well timed and I woke my wife up with a cheer. I landed with a large section of my stbd horizontal stab out, and decided I'd hit my personal O club for a victory scotch. For making the best sim I've ever imagined, I have to return the gesture: Sierra Hotel.. Sierra Hotel! Speed Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I don't think Sierra Hotel stands for Strong Harm :smilewink: Personally, I just did the Hideout mission for the first time, believe it or not. In my squad, I don't get many opportunities to fly missions with just two pilots in them :) It was a pretty cool mission. But yea, all in all, this is a pretty darn cool game. coolts Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 What was that mission Mr Strong? StrongHarm Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 This was an auto-generated mission that I later altered for weapons loadout and order of battle. After generating a mission and running it, I liked it so much that after running it, I doubled back to the mission generator, went into advanced edit, and did a "save as". I also added a tanker. StrongHarm Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Can you please post that .miz for us? Sure thing. I take no credit for this mission. This was created by EDs awesome mission auto-generator. I just added a few things to my liking. I took the CAS helos out because I didn't want them stealing my kills :music_whistling: . I instead, made the ROE of the helos hold fire except for the AA assets which I specifically targeted with the apaches. I also added some F16s to clear out the enemy helos, since they were splashing my apaches who were target fixated on the AA assets. The tanker doesn't orbit in pattern, because there seems to be a bug in beta4 that prevents it. I instead gave it 20 waypoints in a E/W W/E pattern inside of blue AA assets. There's a custom weapons profile, so you may have to open it in the editor and choose "yes" when it asks you if you'd like to save the weapons profile.CAS01.miz It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

jeffyd123 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) How do you save the missions from the auto generator? thats a great idea... some of the best missions I have tried have been from that. I would like to see if they can be reworked for MP use too. Thanks Jeff Edited January 30, 2011 by jeffyd123 i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor

nomdeplume Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 There's also an option in the dynamic mission generator to edit the mission. If you select that, you can then use file -> save as to save the mission somewhere else so it won't be overwritten the next time you use the generator.
StrongHarm Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Truth. Until you exit then re-enter DCS, the same mission stays in the generator. So after running one you like just go back into the generator and do what nomdeplume said. I would like to see a Save As on the debriefing screen as well.. that would be very useful. Maybe one day when the devs are sleeping more than 4 hours a night :smilewink: There's also an option in the dynamic mission generator to edit the mission. Slayer Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Being able to save a dynamic missions state would be one step closer to a DC :P . The RMG is very nice and adds a lot to replayability. StrongHarm Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 It is said to be possible. I quote Kurtz (2010 Journal of KA50 Awesomeness) You can quite easily convert most missions to multiplay using the editor. You will have to load the missions manually. 1. Open the campaign mission you like with the editor 2. Delete your AI wingman from the KA50 flight 3. Change the lead helicopter to "client" 4. Add a new client KA50's one at a time, including waypoints, and payload. 5. Save as "yourmissionCOOPx4" or something unique 6. Drop the miz into your multiplay folder Note- only the lead helicopter will have target points loaded. Its no big deal if your on live comms and other players stick with the formation. All the audio "talk on" should be intact, although if the file size is large i will sometimes remove it to minimise client upload size. ps- Its a shame the larger campaigns are not already setup for 4 slot multiplay with an ability to save progress. It would make up a little for the lack of a dynamic multiplay campaign like in EECH. jeffyd123 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Great guys thanks. Ill do that. I took your mission and added MP to it already. Gotta tweak it some more because the 2 flights i made have no weps when they start. sure is hard to find them suckers when they're hiding in the dark. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
StrongHarm Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Awesome! Post your finished MP mish if you would. For finding the targets I like to * Latch the red triangle transmitted, make it SPI, them Mark it (TMS Right) * Switch to Mark on the AAP for steerpoint (gives the Destination Index Tadpole on the HUD for precision alignment when target is below visible) * Pan back and forward on that point while switching from BHOT to WHOT on the TGP. This really does make anything other than terrain stick out to the eye. Great guys thanks. Ill do that. I took your mission and added MP to it already. StrongHarm Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Please try the missions I just created HERE. In my humble opinion they are a masterpiece in modern chaos. They're the same, but one is at night (and looks awesome!) Post your average FPS (CTRL + Pause twice). Mission Overview: You're sitting on the runway. There are several friendly helos orbiting the runway with manpads, ZSUs, and SAs firing at them. A flight of A10s and AH64s are taking the AAA out. 50 MLRSs from each side are trading punches in front of you. And there's a gunbattle going on to your left. All your FPS are belong to us.
