I'm looking for some documentation on the flight maneuvers used in the A-10. I read somewhere about how the A-10 comes in low, "Pops up" and rolls inverted to visually see the target. Rolls over and take it out. Is there anywhere I can find some info on these types of maneuvers?

Thanks for any help

Excellent! Thank you both. I'm not just looking for the "pop up" but a study guide specific to the A-10 maneuvers. I'm not sure if there is such a thing... The DCS Operators manual is very informative with lots of info but there is nothing that shows the "Combat maneuvers" that we see that are unique to the A-10.

That's because combat maneuvers aren't unique, you use what fits the tactical situiation.

For example, in a Fulda gap situation you would be at tree top level always jinkng, never in a straight line more than 30 seconds at the time to avoid showing intent and to help staying masked.

In a Afghanistan situation you'd be cruising slowly at 25k feet waiting for tasking or heading for a pre briefed target.

The pop up is excellent whan you have to avoid AAA units the GAU-8 outranges most gun systems by a fair margin.

it is also goo to mask you so you can attack from a different direction, for flight attacks it can take deconflicting and some planning but then you should be able to setup a near simultaneous attack on for instance a marshalling point with four different attack headings to throw off the defences and decentralise the enemy fire.

I made this thread a while ago to try and group all of this stuff together, it never really caught on but hopefully it can be of some use to you!
