Topgun505 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 So I fly Black Shark regularly and A-10 as well. For the longest time I have battling my x52 Saitek controller. At the time I didn't have rudder pedals so was using the twist function of the stick for rudder. If I try and fly straight and level, without wind, and both with and without using Flight Director mode I have a pretty significant yaw. The turn/slip ball is nearly pegged to the right and I had to constantly twist the stick or try and trim it out. The thing is ... I do NOT remember this being an issue when Black Shark first came out. It just happened one day. Of course I tried to use the Axis tune to recenter the stick. Re-calibrated in windows as well. Even attempted to set up a dead zone for the rudder to see if maybe it was an uncommanded yaw from the stick which I figured was dying (it was 1-2 yr old and pretty beat). But now I picked up Saitek rudder pedals and the Thrustmaster Warthog. And STILL I have this issue. Not only that, but in A-10 when I go to take off I have to keep a fair bit of rudder inputted in order to remain straight down the runway ... even tho the scenario as 0 wind at ground level. Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on here? This has become truly annoying. I've uploaded a track of the Battle single player mission where you just jump in air-start. I turned on the control input graphic. You can see 0 rudder input and some left stick being inputted and yet the turn/slip is pegged to the right.oddcontrol.trk Topgun505 Win 11 Pro, Intel Core i9-14900kF, Gigabyte RTX 4080 Super, 128 GB DDR5, Corsair Hx1000i, Alienware 34" 2K LED, TrackIR 5 Pro, WinWing F-16EX, WinWing F-15Ex throttle, VPC Warbird rudder, Thrustmaster MFDs x3, Black Hog box.
bumfire Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Thats just the way the shark is, dont fight it and try to keep the ball in the centre all the time as is a never ending fight, as for A10, well I have noticed you need rudder when going down the runway also. A10 I do this, I steer until I hit about 70, then disengage the steering and put rudder on and it gets slightly easier, if I start off without steering enabled then I need lots of rudder to keep straight until 3/4s of the way down the runway. I havent watched your track, but when it comes to the shark it always yaws like a mofo and keeping the ball centred is a never ending task and a horrible fight. However saying that, you may have a conflict somewhere if it isnt the usual type of yaw or if the a10 rudder control is way out of whack, but I suspect that what you are seeing is normal. 159th_Viper Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) ....The turn/slip ball is nearly pegged to the right and I had to constantly twist the stick or try and trim it out..... That's the problem - you did not trim at all sufficiently enough. Coupled with the Flight Director, you near short-circuited the SAS: I could smell the smoke :) I took control of your track at 09:01:06, disengaged FD and had the damnedest time attempting to get the Helo under control for stable, level flight. Managed to get her stable and go hands-free approaching the water - indicative of the Helo not trimmed for optimal flight to begin with which might go a far way to explaining the issues you experienced. Now it could be a Flight-Stick calibration issue, but I would definitely recommend leaving the FD well enough alone and trim, trim, trim and trim. And some more trim for good measure. Pyroflash Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Might also be due to gyroscopic precession, in the A-10, any attempt to climb will command a slight turn to to the left. In the BS, make sure the heading AP is turned off if you aren't actively using it. Edited March 2, 2011 by Pyroflash Sorry, that's precession If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
71st_Mastiff Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 make sure all your axis's and setting are true and not misfitted. some times when your in the CUI area a Axis's will set it self. check your in games controls for extra added controls inputs.
