Shootist Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Do these actually work? I'm still trying to get thru the first quick mission and a little help from the guy flying around with me would be great. I try G LWIn for Attack Ground Targets and I get nothing. Nada. And no response from winggie. RodBorza Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Independently if you are using easy comms or real comms, check your frequency to the wingie. It is the radio in the middle (the UHF radio) and the frequency is usually set at 251.00 MHz. But you gotta check in the mission briefing first. This is an amazing sim! WarriorX Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Hi Shootist, welcome to the Forums! The short answer is yes the wingman commands do work. The workload on you depends on if you are using realistic radio's or simplified. With realistic radio's, getting them to work means you need to tune one of the Radios, and press one of the HOTAS Mic Switches, and then once your wingman actually comes close enough to the enemy target in question, he will report the contact and then you can assign him the target using the F1-F12 keys. Shootist Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 I guess I should explain myself a littlle better. With the little time I have, I really haven't been able to immerse myself the way I would like to. I've been thru all the tutorials and, with my memory, will need to go over them again and again to make the game work for me. I am also very stubborn. That means staying with an initial mission till I get it down pat. So, I started with the first quick mission. I went with the game mode and could not get the gunsight pipper up. Solved this by switching to sim mode. and easily got my gunsight. I have now waisted the first three targets and am out of Mavs. And, there's my wingman. Just circling around, following along. So, the question is still. How do I send my winggie after ground defenses? Remember, I am doing the first Quick mission. No setups. No preflight checks. Just jump into the action. And, I hope I do not have to jump back into game mode to have G LWin work. Asus P8P67Pro, Intel i7, 8gb DDR3, OCZ Vertex3, 120gb SSD, GForce GTX 560, Cooler Master GX850, Win 7, Logi X 3D Pro.
159th_Viper Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 So, the question is still. How do I send my winggie after ground defenses? Remember, I am doing the first Quick mission.... 1 - HOTAS Command - Mic Switch Down alternatively Keyboard - [LAlt] + [Num-] 2 - [F1] - [F2] - [F4] Wingman will now engage Air Defences where appropriate. For other target orders, see communications menu and input accordingly. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Shootist Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Ok. Thanks 159th for finally pounding that into my thick skull. I've got the commands up and asked wing to go after ground threats. Got no reply and, for the life of me couldn't find him. But, I will. Step by step. Baby steps. kingpinda Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Hmm.. no reply? The radio's should be on when doing quick action but you might wanna check if the radio in the middle, the digital one, the left dial is set to both. If you are taking it small steps at a time you might wanna make sure easy comms is selected in the game options. That way when you do HOTAS mic down (be sure to bind it offcourse) the radio will input the necessary freq. You might want to set it to preset but I don't think thats necessary with easy comms. Then follow what viper said.
Shootist Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Nope. I have checked switches and frequencies and they are set right. And I do have chatter with the wingman as he pipes up with 'mudspike' or whatever. And I have checked and unchecked easy comms to no avail. And...I have tried the commands before, after and in close proximity to chatter that me calls out. Nada. Too bad. If I had eight Mavericks slung, I'd walk right thru this first mission. 159th_Viper Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 If you're still having issues, post a track of you flying the quick-start mission and we can take it from there. Shootist Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Sorry, I have no idea how to do that. Asus P8P67Pro, Intel i7, 8gb DDR3, OCZ Vertex3, 120gb SSD, GForce GTX 560, Cooler Master GX850, Win 7, Logi X 3D Pro.
159th_Viper Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Fly your mission as per normal until you experience your problem. As soon as you have, keep flying a half-minute or so longer and quit via Esc key. Once you get to the debrief screen, you will see a tab that says 'Save Track'. Click on save track and follow the prompts to save the track file. Will be saved in your C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Tracks folder. Once saved, post here and above the reply window you will see the 'paperclip' icon - use that to upload the track to your post as an attachment.
