Sel94 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Hey guys, my birthday just passed and I got an X-52pro, A-10, and FSX. What a great birthday! Anyway, I see that you can program the MFD on the X-52 to display stuff, but I can't figure out how, can someone help me? Also, I don't really know a lot about it, like what it should display, but I would like it to show useful information or something, especially for FSX, since I'm playing that a lot right now. Thanks! :)
Conure Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) Happy Birthday and very nice on the gifts! The MFD can be used to operate the radios in MSFX (just install the drivers and SST software on the website, I believe) however it will not work with DCS A-10. The best you can get is for it to flash up with what the name is for the key you've bound, which you setup whilst configuring the stick in SST. I would definitely recommend getting a payware addon for MSFX if possible! Maybe a PMDG if you're interested in jets (apparently the MD-11 is incredible), because DCS is so far ahead of stock MSFX that you'll very much feel that MSFX is a game. Best of luck with it :-) The A10 is a real monster to learn....I don't envy your first acquaintance with the CDU :D Con Edited March 11, 2011 by Conure Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Sel94 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Thanks Con. I did also get "Traffic X" for FSX, don't really know what it did though since I installed it right after installing FSX and Acceleration. I do have a little more money, but I'm not sure if I should spend it on more FSX stuff or other things. And yeah, A-10 is a monster, but it is a great sim, I love it.

Also, from what I understand, the PMDG products take FSX and turn it from being a survey sim akin to Lock On and turn it into a real sim like DCS. If you're serious about flight simulation being as real as possible, it's definitely something to consider! That said, the A10 will keep you busy for a long time! Enjoy it all, you've got hours and hours of learning and fun ahead :D Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Sel94 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 What is "PMDG"? Also, about the MDF radio thing, I'm pretty sure I have all the software installed for my X-52, but the screen only displays the time. What do I need to do to use it to control the radios? Thanks.

It should display the radio info when you've run FSX! Make sure you get the most update drivers an software from the Saitek website as they vastly improve it. Plenty of videos on youtube but I think this one demonstrates the complexity better - Still, it may be better to learn the A10 first. To be honest, I've got very little knowledge as to which is most complex - Can anybody clarify? Does a 747 have more complexity than an A10 in terms of flight, despite lacking the combat avionics? winz Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 For A10C, you can use this little app I wrote http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69057 It will allow you to use the mfd for storing frequencies for refernce. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
Sel94 Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Thanks everyone. I just had to download the new driver and allow a file to run while FSX started. Going to go buy some more stuff for FSX now :) Thanks again!
