bumfire Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Yea I agree with you, that giving enough money every house on the planet near enough could have its own small windmill for generating power and solar panels, or one or the other depending where about in the world you are and land set aside for greener alternatives, whatever they maybe. But the problem is funding, no government would do it because it would be a huge expenditure and once everything has been setup, they would have no income, as people would have no energy bills to pay and the Gov's would have no energy company to tax. If the world was detemined to do it, it could be done, but governments have to fund it and that is where it will stick. Maybe now the fight for a reliable, safe new energy source can begin again in ernest ? as I suspect that every country will now be having debates about their own nuclear industry. Thanks for the rep ;) 1

Thanks for the rep ;) IMHO people around the globe begin to be more and more fed up with the fact that economical considerations take the best over human being . what did i want to say i forgot , ah yes , people within 30 km around the plant are ordered to evacuate , it smells the Chernobyl edit : seems people aren't urged to evacuate but to remain indoors . not much encouraging anyway as now they are talking of serious risks of leakages edit 2 : seems evacuation is underway ... jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) now reactor #4 that was inactive is in fire . i contain myself but we nearly wants to laugh as the disaster is unbelievable . yep only Gojira is missing now Edited March 15, 2011 by jpm1 SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) no comment needed BBC 0309: Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano says: "Now we are talking about levels that can impact human health. I would like all of you to embrace this information calmly. These are readings taken near the area where we believe that the release of radioactive substances is occurring. The further away you get from the power plant or reactor the value should go down". Edited March 15, 2011 by jpm1 SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 the most scarying , it's that it happened to one plant but imagine there's another seism and it happens to a second or a third plant , just imagine the thing SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bumfire Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Up from the depths, thirty storeys high, breathing fire, high in the sky, GODZILLA dum dee dum, GODZILLA dum dee dum, GODZILLA dum dee dum and Godzuky, di di di dee di di deedee di deeee, GOJIRA AGHHHHHHHHHH. I remember that song from the Godzilla and Godzucky cartoons show in britain near on 30 years ago. it has always stuck in my mind because the tune was so catchy.
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 japanese asking foreign help to control reactor #4 (Euronews) . abnormal high radiation levels detected near Tokyo (Kyodo news) . seems things have risen a new level . man you live peacefully on your ancestors land and one day everything is torn into pieces because of a messy industry SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 radiation increasing seems an established fact . i think that comes from a leak of reactor 2 SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 now the fear and i hope it doesn't happen it's that people begin to panic . Al jazeera reports people looking for planes or any means of transport to run away wherever they can SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bumfire Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think they said that the increased radiation is coming from the fire in reactor 4, old fuel burning ? I have no idea what the situation really is, but one station said that the radiation seems to be rising from the fire in reactor 4. Now whether that is true or not and the rad is coming from reactor 2 instead, I have absoluetly no idea.
jpm1 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) seems situation is extremely serious right now . according to NHK some places around the plant are highly contaminated , enough to cause human to feel sick or to get the skin burned . with the fear of mass panic , if the governement told people to stay indoor within a radius of 30 km it's that things are serious . however worst scenario a leak of radiation has been confirmed , in reactor #2 . yes it may come from reactor #4 too Edited March 15, 2011 by jpm1 SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Speed Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I just got to ask the question: Whose brilliant idea was it to build nuclear reactors on the coast in an area known for tsunamis anyway? At least build a wall around the plant! I would think that the cost of a 40 foot concrete wall to protect the facility against just this sort of thing would be insubstantial compared to the cost of the plant itself. Furthermore, how hard would it have been to build the facility a further 15 miles inland? Hopefully this is a wakeup call to all the contries around the world that have these facilities on their coastlines. 1 Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. No, I thought they recycled a lot of the water? But that might only be some of it. Furthermore, even if they didn't, that just doesn't make sense. Any river would do. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure they use fresh water not salt water for that. Finally, this is turning water into steam that they're doing when they generate power... even if they release all that steam, it still takes a tremendous amount of energy to do it. Also, I know of many nuclear plants that are located no where near the coast. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Kuky Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The sad part is that cost is always being the number one consideration in pretty much everything... only when it comes to desperately bad situations do people awake and realise the survival is most crucial thing and then they will do anything... but then can be too late... I was thinking just how much more things can get terrible is these seizmic activities were to indicate a much worse movement in the earths crust and more and more and stronger earthquakes start happening... people do not realise just how powerful nature is and how insignificant we are in the grand sceme of things... I feel sorry for the people of Japan but people are just selfish and money always comes before anything else... 2 PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Thunderbird Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) hope no 4th explosion Edited March 15, 2011 by Thunderbird speeling mistakes lol
bumfire Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) there goes the 4th explosion When did that happen ? right now ? As far as I am aware, this is the situation. Reactor 1, roof blown off in first explosion Reactor 3, roof blown off in second explosion Reactor 4, fire, supposedly been put out. Reactor 2, third explosion which has damaged/ruptured the suppression tank/pool. No fourth explosion has taken place I dont think ? unless it has just this minute happened ??? but BBC is showing Sport news and so is SKY, hmmm. Edited March 15, 2011 by bumfire

Napa Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) A river would do the work, maybe there arent rivers in the area with the enough size for do the work, but it is possible with sea water. I can only think 1 reason to built them in that area. Uranium fuel needs recycling, and those factories (or just one factory) that produce recycled fuel are in proximity off all stations. 95% of nuclear waste can be recycled, 5% can be dumped in sea. I could be talking nonsense. But only the Japanese government really knows whats happening. The press are making their own theories and stories. P.S. Also the sea water is a good reason for cooling, but Japan is made of thousands of islands... so that's not a valid reason. Being "near" Tokyo is another cost efficient reason to be built there? The problem is that at 8.9, the friday earthquake was a lot more powerful than the worst case that engineers projected. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
hassata Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Why wouldn't they have evacuated those fighters immed. after the quake? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
