Prophet_169th Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I notice that it is almost impossible to stafe, because the FPS drops when the bullets impact. Fly the Su25T, and load up all the gun pods, and then try it. I have a AMD64 3500, 1GB RAM, and a 6800GT. Even 1 gun is enough to make it hell, all 5 going off and its a full stop. There is obviously much improvement needed to whatever file makes those effect.
Cobra360 Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 What settings are you running FC at. I have a very similar spec to yours and I don't have that proplem as sevre as you describe. Maybe lower the res a little if you are using anything above 1024x768. I can run 1.02 with the effects set to high in-game no problem and I have a 3200. If that won't help maybe drop the AA and AF down a notch. The 6800GT is more than able for that kind of action and lighting effects. It could be a Forceware driver issue.
Prophet_169th Posted July 3, 2005 Author Posted July 3, 2005 Well I am running it on my TV. It has a fixed resolution of 1280x720 @ 60Hz I just updated Forceware, because the previous version crashed with haze on all the way. I do run with AA and AF pretty high, if not all the way up. I will try those settings. I also got some 3rd party pixel and shader optimization. I havent tried the Su25T with all 5 pods yet, but I will check that too. From what I have seen with the other fps issues, I am just wondering if they had optimized the lighting and shading effects enough??
Lange_666 Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Prop, i also have a hugh FPS problem in FC (compared to 1.02). I just played Birdy's mission which he posted on our forum and al i can say is that my AMD 3000+ 1GB RAM and 128MB FX5900XT is far from good enough to run this game at a decend (= playable) framerate and this with medium to low settings. Grrr... Maybe we can have a little chat about this issue then next time you see me on ICQ? Lange_666 Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I also wonder howmany of you guys play a slideshow of a game instead of one with a decent framerate? Prophet_169th Posted July 4, 2005 Author Posted July 4, 2005 I am turning the graphics to low, just because of a guns effect. There is too many cycles being used by these effects. They need to be optimized. Yup, I see you once in a while Lange. Would be happy to talk =)
Pilotasso Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 you might want to tweak the sound config file in the respective folder. reducing some sounds range (and /or angle) at wich they can be heard can prove very usefull. Strangely enough water and ground impact sounds have weird high frequency pitch components wich can hog the precessing power. Some sounds can be heard from 5000m wich I think its an exxageration and reduced that to 1/3th or so of the original value. Worked great on my previous machine. .
Lange_666 Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Can you put your sound.cfg file up for download? Secondly, any clue how much an add-on soundcard would help over onboard sound? christopher m Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 PCI Latency Tool V2.3 Found a prog_file on http://www.guru3d.com that can help this slowdown problem with the cannon shells. pc latency tool 2.3 I used it and it showed my GT6800 was set for 248ns and all other cards were set at 64ns. I followed suggestion of the read me and set my card to 64ns also. What it does is actually gives the vidio card more CPU cycles. Result was good smoother action and less stuttering. Less sound stuttering also, FPS were up in the cockpit of the su-25 and 25t. Those are the only planes I am flying right now. I tried some straffing runs in the su-25 w/gpods and did not get any stuttering when the shells hit the ground. Try it its simple and not dangerous to your system. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christopher M
Pilotasso Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Can you put your sound.cfg file up for download? Secondly, any clue how much an add-on soundcard would help over onboard sound? Sure here it is. rename it to .CFG because I could only upload as a TXT. backup your first too. Good luck. .
Prophet_169th Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 That sound.cfg file didnt help any. Though i did notice a difference in the sounds. I put AF all the way down....... no good. I still think its because the game renders a impact cloud for every round. There's just too much smoke down there. Its just amazing that theres only 1 instance in the game that I go from 50-60 fps, to 1-5 fps. Just 1.
