coolts Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Quick question. Do I need to park anywhere special at my home airport for this to work? I know I can hot refuel and rearm and switch off for repairs, and have seem strongharms excellent guide. Does location matter? Sometimes it works, sometimes not and I have a sneaking feeling that I have to park somewhere special for some / all of these functions. At work and have no manual access. :book: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals
StrongHarm Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 It doesn't matter where you park. You can be on the grass off the end of the runway. What matters is the base you're at. F10 and click the airfield. If it says coalition you're good to go. I think there are some civilian airfields that will fuel and not arm.. but haven't nailed that down. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
coolts Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks. I was driving about trying to find the "sweet spot" to park and re-arm as i was getting "negative", etc. What a doofus . Edited March 17, 2011 by coolts [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals
Inseckt Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) Do we need to set any particular vehicles at the airfields to get certain services, as in BS? or was that only with the FARP's? nomdeplume Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 It was only with the FARPs, airfields have all services already. I think they can be destroyed and thus disable those services, but I've never tested that. If you're getting a response from your request then you're in the right spot. The only reason I can think they'd refuse is if you're still moving. It used to be that you had to shut down the engines prior to refuel, but I think that might have changed (haven't tried it, but did read a post on this forum saying you didn't have to shut down to refuel any more).
MackTheKnight Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I always use a parking space for rearm/refuel for realism sake. Have never tried doing this on the runway. You can refuel/rearm with engines still running. For repairs, have the ground crew turn on ground power and then shut your engines down.
Bulletstop Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I had to add a cargo truck and fuel truck to kolbulity(spelling) for refuel and rearm. I tried before parking right next to the ground tower with the trucks and no go. bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. Inseckt Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 ^^interesting, wich would by logic mean that available services depends on the airdrome... I like!:) Help Beczl with his DCS MiG-21Bis project by Pre-Ordering DCS MiG-21Bis module NOW! CLICK HERE TO GO TO PRE-ORDER PAGE AT INDIEGOGO

As strongharm says, if you are unsure, use the F11 feature to ensure that the airfiled does actually belong to your coalition. Bottom Left hand side denotes this via colour block. Grey is neutral and will not Rearm, Repair or refuel anyone. 'T' Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED

Damage Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) How long does it take to repair? And how do you know when they're finished? stop, turn on ground power and shut down both engines. after engines are shut down... wait about 3 minutes. you'll notice that your aircraft will lift up (levitate) for about a minute then set back down. after that you should be good to go. you'll probably need to motor each engine prior to start to cool them down. you'll still need to ask for a re-arm and refuel. don't forget to reload data (load all). jeffyd123 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 i set my clock at zero when the ground crew finishes rearming/refueling (whichever the GC calls "done" last). After 3 minutes, I start up the engines and see if it worked...... Sadly, there are more often than not other problems that werent broken before (Like hyd pressure) or some other damn thing that doesnt work. I haven't patched yet though so maybe thats it. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor

Er..........................you got something wrong with your client then...levitate for about a minute? This is DCS A-10C, not a David Copperfield show in Vegas. Seriously though, 3 minutes is all it takes and yes sometimes, there may be problems when you restartup, usually CADC failure, but not always. Levitate though? thats a new one on me. 'T' Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED
Nate--IRL-- Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Levitate though? thats a new one on me. 'T' Airfields are no longer plain flat surfaces, the now have real world gradients. In order for an aircraft to spawn without problems, it is necessary to suspend the aircraft above the surface slightly. You will see this on repair and on mission start. 'T' No, hes right, 3 minutes after you shut of your engines (no need to turn the avionics or battery or anything else off) the repairs are initiated and the plane starts to float a meter above the ground (even says that you took off from the airfield in multiplayer) all the doors and hatches are opened, the plane gets repaired, everything closes and you are dropped down on the ground again. Unlike lock on and black shark, you don't actually get a new aircraft. it just gets repaired, which I think is a great change seeing as all your weapon profiles and CMS programs are saved and even the INU stays aligned if you ask for ground power before powering down your engines.
