Mule Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I printed off the checklists for start up from the manual when i was at work today with the intention of starting to learn the whole start up process. I read on these forums that there was an item missing. Like an idiot i thought i would just remember that when i come round to it and have of course forgotten what it was. I have done various searches but with not much luck. Can anyone help me out here? Many thanks. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
bradleyjs Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Try matching the checklist with the Startup Training Mission and see if there's anything missing. I'm not personally aware that anything is missing ... there have been many startup checklists posted by other users during the Beta days... try a search for that too. Also, when you go to work - aren't you supposed to work and not study A-10C checklists??? LOL j/k Enjoy! Mule Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 At work they have a nice laminating machine ;) and thanks for the tip i did actually try that. It seems to work ok. The only thing was i wasn't getting any speed indication on the HUD when i took off and flew around for a few minutes? No worries i will work it out :) Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Zenra Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I've been using WarriorX's cold start checklist (see here). I don't think there is anything missing(?). Zenra Intel i7 930 2.8GHz; ATI HD5850 1GB; 1TB Serial ATA-II; 12GB DDR3-1333; 24 x DL DVD+/-RW Drive; 800W PSU; Win7-64; TM Warthog HOTAS

No worries i will work it out :) No speed indication could mean icing on the pitot tube. Did you have icing conditions, and if so did you turn on Pitot Heat? Gets real cold when you're flying at speed and altitude. Also, be sure not to leave the pitot heat on while you're on the ground, as it will eventually overheat and destroy it. Generally, flick it on on the runway threshold as you take off, and switch it off when you taxi off the runway after landing.
Frogfoot1606687865 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Dont forget to turn on the bleed air and main air supply switches, they seem to be missing from some checklists. (Page 156- Environmental systems panel) Is there any indication that the Environmental Systems are anything more than cockpit pressurization functionality? Frogfoot1606687865 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Is there any indication that the Environmental Systems are anything more than cockpit pressurization functionality? Nope, but presurising the cockpit seems to help reduce the chances of hypoxia at altitude, so therefore should be enabled prior to flight.
