tbodrero Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I'm new to this game so I was hoping someone could help. I started a new campaign, I get clearnace for startup, I get ready to taxi and I request clearnace to taxi, I always get denied, is there a step I'm missing?

I started a new campaign, I get clearnace for startup, I get ready to taxi and I request clearnace to taxi, I always get denied, is there a step I'm missing? What campaign?, perhaps there is already a thread regarding this problem with the specific mission, it sounds like the AI is obstructing the passage. In either case, it is always best to provide a track. Griffin-185th Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I haven't once had permission to take off. I've had my permission to start engines and permission to taxi to the runway, but once there I get the repeated message that they're unable to give take off clearance. Once I've cursed the atc a few times I take off. You need to stop prior to entering the runway and request takeoff permission. If you taxi onto the runway, the ATC AI will consider that runway to be obstructed, and tell you you don't have permission to be there. ;) There's a "magic zone" on the final section of each taxiway just prior to the runway. If you're not in that zone the ATC will ignore your request for takeoff permission. It is possible at some airports to go slightly too far without actually entering the runway, so you don't receive a response.

epoch Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 This makes the sim feel more "beta" than any other issue that I know of- by far. It's a feature. ED had to add an ATC blighted with Tourettes and OCD. We don't want any discrimination here. :music_whistling: 1

It would be good if the ATC advised something like "Hog 11 cleared to taxi runway 31. Hold short" like you get in Falcon. A small but useful amendment I think. Vati66 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Just a quick note. After not getting permission to take off more then a few times I took note of where I was and what ATC I was talking to. If you are talking to Tiblisi tower and they clear you to taxi to 31 you will sit there for ever if you are really at 32 @ VAZIANI !! LOL
RaXha Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 To be a bit more on topic, i'm guessing you are trying to fly The Shore campaign? If so then its a known bug that you will not get clearance to taxi. The other two campaigns work better, but after a few missions in they are bugged aswell. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=67284
Laud Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 And even worse: The tower always lets you start with backwind (directs you to the wrong RWY)... :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, Intel Core i7 9700k , 32gb Corsair DDR4-3200 Asus RTX 2070 super, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2, Win10 64bit, Acer XZ321QU (WQHD) TM HOTAS Warthog, SAITEK Rudder Pedals, TIR 5
CrashEd Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Either way, the ATC at the moment is a major weakness and needs sorting imo. It would be such a shame for a sim this good (probably the best ever made to date) to be spoilt by poor ATC. Sims are all about immersion, detail and realism. This is one of those things that really kills off those factors. (rant over ;) )

zamboni Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I got a nice surprise last night in a campaign mission. Got takeoff clearance....took a quick look around turned on to the runway...waited a couple of seconds. Start my takeoff roll, as I am hitting about 80kts, two A-10s fly overhead and land right in front of me. I crossed my fingers to see if I could get enough speed to takeoff over top of them, but no luck :).
