bunraku Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Hi. When i am travelling towards a SPI in intertial CCRP mode i travel towards the Azimuth Line. However the projected PRBL swings to one side of the Azimuth line and i really struggle to hold it on top of the azimuth line. Any idea why it it veers to a side?

rob10 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) Hi. When i am travelling towards a SPI in intertial CCRP mode i travel towards the Azimuth Line. However the projected PRBL swings to one side of the Azimuth line and i really struggle to hold it on top of the azimuth line. Any idea why it it veers to a side? I'll take an educated guess for something to check until you post a track. If you are not heading directly at the target (i.e. your heading slightly right or left of the target according to the TVV) then the PRBL will drift off Azimuth line. When you go to correct it will put the PRBL on the line, but then you might be pointed slightly to the other side of the target and again start drifting off the Azimuth line. Small corrections and anticipating to get the TVV lined up with the target should keep you on track. Edited April 26, 2011 by rob10
Frederf Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 The important thing to put on top of the other thing is the pipper dot in the center of the CCRP reticule over the ASL. Dot on ASL. Ignore the PBRL. Ignore the TVV. In previous versions the ASL would walk at the last 5-7 seconds due to a crosswind. But you say the PBRL drifts suddenly? That's new. As long as you are not maneuvering the PBRL should be pretty stable.
Frederf Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Oh what you're talking about IAM CCRP mode, like with the JDAM series of bombs. Just fly toward the ASL and when it gets sensitive ignore it and fly straight. The release window if very wide with JDAMs and as long as the range is between the min and max carets you're able to release and hit.

Try toss bombing one from 100-200 ft AGL doing about 360knots. Once it's right over the target it hits an invisible wall :P
Frederf Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yeah I've noticed that too. ED "improved JDAM accuracy" a few patch ago and yeah you can't get them to miss even if you try. Even at impossible over-energy they turn a sharp corner and hit anyway.
