Defend Yankee Base JTAC has nothing

I'm a total noob at this. I take off, fly a couple waypoints ... I'm not really sure when I should check in with the JTAC so I've tried it early and I've tried it right before I'm on my way to the IP. Each time he says he has nothing for me and I can depart ... what am I missing???

JTAC is assigned unactivated groups. I think if you ask for tasking and the only groups are unactivated then it will give you the "no groups to attack" song and dance.

 

Of course on-call CAS doesn't work that way. You check in, wait around for hours, and maybe JTAC has a task for you before you are at end of vulnerability. So pretend you heard "No tasking at the moment, stick around though" instead of what you actually heard.

Just fly close to Yankee base, the base will contact you directly and tell you what targets to hit. I can't remember but you might have to reply to them by Communication Key F10

Several of the ED-made single missions have communications that avoid using the JTAC AI module. It inspires confidence in the product.

Nah not really a conscious decision. For my missions, if I didn't include a JTAC it was because it didn't fit the concept for the mission. In one (The Serpents Head) I mixed scripting and the JTAC, but it was a Massive headache to coordinate the two.

Yankee Camp Problems

 

Hello,

 

As was recommended to me by some other forum goers, I have been trying to complete the Yankee camp mission as it is supposed to be fairly beginner friendly.

 

I am having a lot of trouble getting anything to trigger past eliminating the infantry near the north outpost (I've checked my F10 map to make sure theyre all gone). I've flown it about 7 times, and only once have I been able to trigger whatever goes down at the south outpost (I got shot down, so I don't really know what that is). I usually stay on station for 30min or so, but don't get any calls from the camp and JTAC says no tasking.

 

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here; is it possible there is a problem with the mission, or am I missing something obvious?

There are some prolems with this mission. I've flown it sometimes and it is very difficult to end.

Problems I noticed so far:

1) The A-10 flight that gets before you attacks all the targets around. The mortars, tanks, infantry. What I do is to pay attention to their calls and then input them on the CDU, making them waypoints. Ater that, I proceed to the attack. The JTAC available will tell you nothing. Very bad.

2)After attacking the infantry on the hill, the mission will not end until you get ALL the infantry. One time I flew there were two soldiers left, in a place where I couldn't find with the TGP. I loitered for a long time, tried all the tricks to find them and wasn't able to. Mission did not end. Very frustating.

Glad I'm not the only one with issues with this mission. Hopefully ED takes a look at this one for the next patch. Seems like it could be a good mission.

i think remember last time i have not see an AAA on the back of a mountain and the flight have end on the floor. I remember have clean some "group"...

Would it be unusual that I get no response at all from JTAC if I contact them as soon as I am all powered up and ready to roll but still sitting on the taxi way?

 

I just ran this map for the 1st time, couldnt figure out why I was getting no response at all from Darknight?

 

 

Briefing calls for JTAC Darknight on VHF-FM 30.

Even squelched the FM radio just fine,,, was able to contact tower on AM radio for startup, went to FM 30.,,, nothing?
