Spitfire2170 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I have a 42" tv as my monitor, and TrackIR says on the sight the device must be placed on top of the screen. Well, when I do that, I cant lean forward at all because it loses sight of my IR emitters. Are there any settings I can change to help me out? Sinky Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Have you tried tilting the cameras head? It was possible on TrackIR 4, don't know about version 5 though. xWARGOx Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I have a 42'' on the desk I use to fly. All I did is tilt the camera down a little. You will find that "money" spot for it to work perfect for you. Then again, it's not a huge tilt as I am a giant at 6'5''
104th_Crunch Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Use the TIR software to see what the camera sees. Click the 'Display' drop down, top left of the view screen. Make sure all 3 LEDs are visible through your entire movement by adjusting the camera.
Frederf Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Despite what anyone says the TIR doesn't have to be placed on top of your monitor. Ideally it should be straight ahead of your emitter/reflector headgear but usually that's right in the middle of the monitor. I've had mine taped to the left edge of a 21" monitor bezel which works with a left-side TrackIR Pro emitter. I found initially I had problems with look down tracking loss. Looking at the camera view in the software showed a lot. By pointing the camera down a little bit and tilting the emitter array back on my head more I biased the range more toward look down and less toward look up (which I had plenty anyway). You might also try having an asymmetrical curve set for your pitch axis. Usually you don't care about fine control as much looking down into the cockpit as looking out into the world so you can make the sensitivity much higher for down. Lastly you can place the TIR below your monitor which will give great look down performance at the expense of look up performance.
Barrakooda Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I have mine tapped to the side of a Dell U2711 & using the pro 4. No issues playing COD & works fine in A10C as well just orientated the software to match camera. Used stock profile.
Spitfire2170 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Alright, thanks for the tips. Gonna try this out again. 104th_Crunch Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Careful taping your camera to the monitor bezel! I did this and after a while my TIR4 died. I think it was because it overheated since it was taped to the bezel.
JIMJAM Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I use a large 37 inch tv and was having issues with the sensor being to high just as you describe. It looks geeky but here is what I did. My ballcap I wear instead of mounting it on the rim, I taped it on the very top. Test different angles since when you put it on the cap will puff up. Then I got some double sided tape and tapeds the sensor to the bezel of the tv and even 1/2 of it comes down a little onto the screen. I am using one of the Pyramat gaming chairs, not the floor ones for kids but the executive swivel chair. Its got a subwoofer and 2 tweeters in the headrest and cranked up will blur you vision! Anways I could not lower the tv so I raised the sensor on my head. Hope this helps.
