kingneptune117 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I did not like the tutorials at all. They didn't help me one bit but they did a great job of getting me frustrated. This forum is a huge resource. Also you need to adjust your curves. With heavy loadout, I can get off the ground at around 140 knots, and three seconds later initiate a 360 turn and be done with the whole thing in a fairly short time. You need to learn the sweet spots of your stick; the point where you are not stalling the plane but you are max performing it. This of course varies with your load out. PeterP Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Hello Parintachin, This posts seems to be made just for you - A real life pilot talks about the first steps in DCS-A-10C :) Mostly for the "newbies"...some thoughts on how to grasp all of this. Edited May 11, 2011 by PeterP
Scabbers Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Just an observation. I have played flight sims since flight simulator on the commadore 64. For a fixed wing sim this is the second hardest I have had to learn. Falcon 4.0 being the first. Landing a viper is a skill. From what I have read in your first post sounds to me like your throttles are not properly calibrated and giving you the correct thrust. I can wing down and hold 270 degrees of turn with out a drop out stall. check to see if you are getting the full 100 percent on the throttle. also check to see if you raised your flaps. Now where is that speed brakes control again? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dmordred Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) Yeah makes me kinda miss A-10 Tank Killer :music_whistling: Luckly the community is helpful, I'm able to take-off (without proper clearance, damned bureocrats) after 2 hours of joyful and ultra-super entertaining gameplay. :joystick: Oh who am I kidding... it IS REALLY frustrating if you want to jump in and fly, maybe kill some baddies, maybe some civs and be court martialed... :pilotfly: Anyways, my point is: -It COULD be a little more easy on ease mode. I still need to do a lot of stuff to get it properly right, and a beginner campaign would be a lot of fun! -A PROPER GAME-LIKE TUTORIAL is really needed! the current tutorial is aimed to the Full Blast Sim Power Mode, and gamers have trouble with it... -And a problem with the game sim itself: no way to see the keybinds on flight. I really hate having to restart a whole mission cause I simply can't remember the key to a basic navigation function and can't find it on my notes! (yeahI know: "get better notes!" ) Still, not giving up yet, as I said community here is great, this is my first post but I've been reading it for days and most of my problems were solved! EDIT: just a nice typo fixed Edited May 11, 2011 by dmordred LCM Mordred [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bloomstomb Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I vote easy mode should have top gun music in back round while flying :D I aslo want to say of the simulation mode...... Im glad I am alive at a time sims like this are being made. This is truly the greatest sim I have ever played, and I will buy the next product that dcs sells.
dmordred Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) I vote easy mode should have top gun music in back round while flying :D I think "Ghost" theme is more appropriate for the first 12 hours of gameplay btw, tutorials ARE useful! lesson learned today: "Thou shall not turn it like it's a X-Wing" Edited May 11, 2011 by dmordred LCM Mordred [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bulletstop Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 The bad part for me is, I have never even thought of trying the game mode. I find I absolutely love how hard it is to get into and get the systems right. I do understand the frustration but I am also an avid reader so I enjoyed reading the manual which helped greatly. I hope the frustration will abate some and use the active pause while trying the different systems. It helped me while adjusting to the mavs. The community is for the most part very patient with noobie pilots. Altho a few will always ask or state rtfm, lol. Anyways good luck and be patient it will come together. Frostiken Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 According to my Logbook, it took me 10 hours in-game before I really felt comfortable with it. Honestly, if you dedicate a weekend to it, you should be alright. My method was to read a section on the manual, then play with it in-game to see how it really works. About 70% through I just stopped because everything else seemed to be clicking into place by then. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
