Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Don't watch it then. I won't, but I think I'm free to express my opinion on a movie. And I'm not worried about myself, but about the thousands of people who'll watch it, take it as the utmost truth and run around echoing that crap. Pop culture has a massive influence on people's opinions and ways, and such releases are both cause and result of the stupidity surrounding the general public.
Napa Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 stupidity surrounding the general public. There I agree. :P Still its just a movie, just like football its just a game. And it seems not many took this movie seriously. I found out about it last week and it was named "Georgia" on one of its posters. This week I found out that it was named "5 days of August". Probably Georgians themselves protested on the title. Would you want such a film to be titled "Cyprus"? ;) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Pilotasso Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 A single b-rate movie isn't a trend. But it is rather worrisome how much Georgia helped them film it. Not to mention it seems Georgian companies are the primary production companies behind it. :( The plot you quoted from IMDB seems pretty much like the plot of "Behind Enemy Lines" -both involve photo evidence of war crimes -both based on "historical events" (movie speak for some of this happened, but nowhere near what the movie shows) -both have corrupt commanding officers who have "mercenaries" do their dirty work for them -both have freedom fighters (the underdogs) help rescue the main characters -Oddly enough Georgia also supplied resources for Behind enemy lines. However Behind Enemy lines was a proper "hollywood" film. Not any different from well known movies we grew up with. -Top Gun -Final countdown -Mirror wars -Red Dawn and so on so forth including even cartoons for kids and some other franchises I cant even remember by now. For an outsider they might sound offensive but for nationals its epic. It really depends from the point of view. Oh and along with fiction vitamins while at it. movies are for entertainment, documentaries are for education and this doesn't fit that category. .
martyall Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I like this Red Dawn. I really love watching it. :D
Thor77 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 just watched the trailer - at 00:24 Hind is firing from the left side of the fuselage; talk about accuracy :D Anyway a good friend of mine and his wife, a news correspondent for countries of ex-Soviet Union were in Georgia during the conflict. She was one day on the border line, during the cease fire, with a group of other journalists. Georgians at one time opened fired on them from their backs - luckily noone got hurt, but imagine who would be blamed, if somone got shot ;) Wars are nasty and there's bad things happening on both sides... http://dcsskins.wordpress.com/ Your place for custom created DCS World skins.
