bloomstomb Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Sorry what a noob question, could someone explain this in simple terms? Whats the difference between waypoints and steer points?
AlphaOneSix Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 You can have lots of waypoints, but only one steerpoint. The steerpoint is the currently active waypoint.
Eddie Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 The steer point is your active waypoint, it's as simple as that. Say for example, you have a flight plan consisting of 20 waypoints (0-19). You start in the ramp with waypoint 0 as your steer point (it is the active waypoint shown of your HUD etc), you then take off and select waypoint 1 as you steer point, waypoint 0 now stops being your steer point and becomes a waypoint again. Once you reach your new steer point you then select waypoint 2 as your steer point and so on. You can have many way points, but only one steer point.
Pyroflash Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Steerpoint can be changed using the rocker switch on the left hand side of the UFC. Alternatively you can use the DMS up/down switch with your HUD set as the SOI to change the Steerpoint. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
bloomstomb Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) Ahhh ok thank you. Finaly something simple:) ALSO what is anchor point? I looked at every reference within manual and it just uses it as a passing reference, never tells me exactly what an anchor point is and what its used for. Edited May 10, 2011 by bloomstomb
macedk Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) Anchor point is a holding point, hence the use of the word (ships)anchor. (stay here and don't move :)) Edit: in the flying sense it means start an orbit around the anchor point.
