azincourt Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I need some advise For some reason I can't get anyone to answer me on the radios Can someone explain why when I enter my airfields freq, it doesn't respond and why JTAC doesn't respond when I try to get tasks? The freq is correct and the settings are correct. There are some tutorials but they aren't very clear for a beginner like me.
Cibit Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hi there are three radios am is the one needed to contact atc. Check you are selecting the correct radio for the correct usage. Fm is normally used for jtac, uhf is primarily used for wingman. I use hotas so unsure of the keybindings i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
mvsgas Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Are you using the correct mike switch? Look at page 87 and 88 of the manual. VHF1 is normally for ATC, VHF 2 for JTAC. page 137-138 talks about VHF 1 139-141 UHF 141-143 VHF 2 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
azincourt Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) I turn on the power and radios as in the training mission and enter the bases freq on radio 1 (setting MAN) I press LOAD, I go to PRE. I press Lshift + num +, I call the base and ask for start up and nothing happens. I do the same with Lalt and num - and nothing happens Edited May 18, 2011 by azincourt

mvsgas Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Try some thing, in the options, controls. clear the keys and re assign them. I want to make sure the key are responding the same. Also, do you have any program with hot keys? For example ATI CCC. Are you starting DCS as admin? Sorry just trying to narrow down what is going on. My apologies for the 20 questions. Blacknemisis Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Is there a way to use the Mic switch to scroll the options once you get into the radio field instead of hitting keys like F5 and F6 to give out task?
Nu-NRG Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Is there a way to use the Mic switch to scroll the options once you get into the radio field instead of hitting keys like F5 and F6 to give out task? azincourt Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Hi.For some reason I can't start the game using admin. I did have to do some thing so that my win7 32bit os would run the game though. I have ATI CCC and I will try to re-assign the keys to see if it helps although I haven't really messed with the keys in game
Darklighter Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The UHF should be on Main and the two VHF radios make sure they are on TK. Dial closest to the seat.

Just a shot in the dark: You have not, by any chance, installed the TARS Addon for Multiplayer Radio Comms via Teamspeak? I had it activated and discovered, that I didn't get any replies over the Radio in Singleplayer without deactivating TARS in its control panel. As I said, just a shot in the dark. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
azincourt Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Hi everyone. for some reason beyond my understanding of the known universe, my radios are now responding. Thanks for all your help, advise and tips etc. Brilliant and fast responses on a great forum :)

Ripcord Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 (edited) Azincourt, I am having the same problem and I'd like to know what you did to solve it. I have tried 3-4 for different missions and I get no response at all from ATC. Have watched videos and read tutorials. Flying version 1.1.0.7.,. using regular comms (not easy comms). I am able to transmit the message now, but no response. Ripcord EDIT: OK I got it, I was simply using the \ button for pulling up the comms menu, and that was my problem. Needed to use the HOTAS mic button, specifically the LAlt and Num +, IIRC (HOTAS Mic Switch Forward). This way I got the tower to respond and give me permission to start engines. Worked in two different missions. Edited May 29, 2011 by Ripcord [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
