SinandGrin Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I haven't taken the next step from 1.1.0.7 to 1.1.0.8 because I have been away on business, but I wanted to see if most people thought 1.1.0.8 offered more benefits than issues and was worth it overall. I keep reading about some who experience performance issues (lower FPS), the known tree shadow issue, and a few other little things and I wonder if I should just hold off for 1.1.0.9 or are most people glad they got the latest patch and like what it offers. I'm not sure how long until 1.1.0.9 comes out anyways and I'll be home next Tuesday and will want to fly then for sure! I know it's hard to say yes or no definitively since everyone's circumstances and systems are different, I just wanted to get a general feeling from the community. Are there any real big issues people have had after updating to 1.1.0.8? Also I suppose if I wanted to play online then I would have to get the latest version, correct?
Snoopy Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I'd upgrade as you never know how long it will take to release 0.9 v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
bluepilot76 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I say get it (1108 ) You dont know how long it will be before 1109 (despite the recent announcement, there could be hold ups) Since 1109 is a fast patch maybe there wont be a whole installer anyway, you might need 1108 to patch up from. For me 1108 runs nice, despite the trees, its worth it because so many annoying bugs have been fixed. And the cockpit shadows are really good. MTFDarkEagle Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Given all the bugfixes in 1108, go for it. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Iceman2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I don't think 1.1.0.9 is nearly as big as 1.1.0.8, so most probably it needs the earlier patch to be installed first.
Conure Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Go for 1.1.0.8. Cockpit shadows are beautiful and we have no idea how long it'll take for 1.1.0.9. Oh, and on my rig I get a very very smooth FPS at almost maxed out graphics at 1900-1200. Bear in mind I run monitors at 256 and have water on low though. (I kinda lied, that's not nearly maxed out graphics at all, is it!) SinandGrin Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 Thanks for all your insights. I will probably update to 1.1.0.8 mostly for the cockpit shadowing, that looks amazing! I guess If I really have some odd problems or reduction in FPS I can revert back to 1.1.0.7 for the mean time. Also, just curious, does anyone know if updates will be a constant thing or is there some determined point where ED will stop putting out patches? Is it that they will stop patching things when all the features they set out to include in the sim originally are fully implemented and working correctly, or will they be adding newer things and other features as time goes on? Any guess as to how long these patches will run for? Would it be beneficial at all to included an in-game update function that would check online to see if an update was available and then allow you to download and install the patch from within the game, as apposed to having to watch the forums all the time for the next patch? Not that I mind doing that, I am on here every day almost. :smilewink:
Iceman2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 If you need revert back option, I suggest you backup your whole 1.1.0.7 game folder and user data folder, that ensures you can rollback just by replacing folders.

I have kept all the installation files since the first beta, so I was just thinking that I could install fresh if I needed to.
