dooom Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 i am new to the sim and have a fe questions regarding brake control. currently i have my NWS assigned to my G1 on the g13 keyboard, left and right brakes assigned on the saitek rudders and the Brake key W default on keyboard. My questions. 1 - with NWS not engaged, utlizing the toe brakes seems to steer the a10c seems to give opposite results than expected.. i.e, dpressing the right toe brake turns the hog left. 2- with nws engaged, the toe brakes do not seem to offer any control to supplement steering 3- explain using the W key... is it one press to engage brakes and one to release or is it press and hold down for continued input and brake release when you release the W key? thanks all. =Panther= Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I haven't played with the brakes in the latest patch but if you press on the right toe brake the aircraft should go right. Not sure about #2. #3 Press and hold to apply brakes. sobek Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 2- with nws engaged, the toe brakes do not seem to offer any control to supplement steering How should they, when the nose wheel can no longer turn (sideways) freely? At some point you are probably going to start to introduce slipping over your nose wheel, but until then, the plane should go rather straight. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. GGTharos Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 1 - with NWS not engaged, utlizing the toe brakes seems to steer the a10c seems to give opposite results than expected.. i.e, dpressing the right toe brake turns the hog left. You have assigned the left/right toe brakes incorrectly - ie. left to right and right to left. 2- with nws engaged, the toe brakes do not seem to offer any control to supplement steering As explained by sobek. Why are you trying to steer with the toe brakes anyway when NWS is engaged? 3- explain using the W key... is it one press to engage brakes and one to release or is it press and hold down for continued input and brake release when you release the W key? thanks all. You have toe brakes ... why use that at all? O.o [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
sofie_59 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) Reasign your toe brakes( In A10 C options) and use your stick to change direction As simple as that! And about nr 3# As long as you hold the w key you brake Edited June 15, 2011 by sofie_59 MB:MSI X79A-GD45 CPU:Intel Core i7 3930K 3.2GHz Ram:16 gb Grafik :GTX 680 Sli Win 7 64 bit 1200 W 2 ssd 120 gb 1 2 TB western Digital Caviar Green
GGTharos Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) ^^^^ Very bad advice, especially consdering that in crosswind situations you may have to use aileron while rolling - well, unless you mean with a modifier so that they remain separate... then it's reasonable advice IF you lack rudder pedals, but useless for crosswinds regardless :D Edited June 15, 2011 by GGTharos [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
triumph Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 i use saitek rudder peds in a10 1.08....they work flawlessly.....rudder..nose wheel steering, differential braking....first i make sure rudder pedals have no extranious assignments.....rudder....left and right brake.....duplicate assignments in other controlers deleted........as i have an irrational fear of duplicate assignment conflicts..... rudder may need some dead zone....axis curve...to suit taste....brakes may need some dead zone to taste...but no curve....if in sim check brakes are on but go off when pressed....if so in axis modify tick invert for both brakes..works for me...diff braking plus steering equals back flips....waiting for patch 1.09, and simulated court marshal......jim 1 asus p6t ws pro mobo.i7 975 extreme cpu..nvid rog strix 1070 gpu.1000+w enermax psu.12 gb domi ram.twin velociraptors.w7 64..ch stick,throttle,pedals,trakir..x52 pro stick,throttle.. thrustmaster warthog
