RvEYoda Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Looking to fly some heli sims for the first time in a while. This time though it would be good to have a proper collective, and that seems to make things difficult. Are there any companies like thrustmaster or Saitek making collectives for simmers? Perhaps there is some other product you could buy and "make it work" like a collective? I saw an example here of, well, basically a stick mounted to a CH sliding throttle. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=27119&page=4 Anybody got ideas on how to solve this the best way?. Alternatively, If I happen to get really lucky someone who has one but doesn't need it might see this and sell it to me? ;P Edited July 4, 2011 by =RvE=Yoda S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). RvEYoda Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) High quality - but not cheap! http://www.rcsimulations.com/cadet.html Thanks, I'll have a look, but it's likely a little too expensive for me. From what I could tell the heli kit is also without a base? Does this come with electronics, I mean, USB or such? Or do they just sell the mechanics? Not much information on their site. It would be good to know what kind of internal mechanics/electronics they use to some extent if I'm going to spend that kind of money :) All other suggestions still more than welcome! sobek Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 but not cheap! LOL, that's what i call understatement. :D Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

It is plug and play. You just have to fix to a platform/base. Wooden board would be OK. Works OK with FSX, FC2 and DCS. Having problems? ED Team JimMack Posted July 4, 2011 ED Team Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) LOL, that's what i call understatement. :D Agreed. We used the helo configuration at a military trade show: Look at Alex flying the Ka-50. The level of control was a quantum leap over using standard consumer controls, in particular for helo controls. BaD CrC Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Bought this: here: http://www.simw.com/jet-ranger-pitch-lever.html Yes, it is super expensive. :( Then added a couple more switches and an additionnal coolie hat from a scavenged thrustmaster joystick, to get that: The final integration is shown in this video: 1 https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
RvEYoda Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) unfortunately I can't find it and your link seems to be dead, but I did find this: http://www.flightlink.com/osc/product_info.php?products_id=47 I think I'll get this and maybe put some buttons on it :). ED Team JimMack Posted July 4, 2011 ED Team Posted July 4, 2011 BaD CRC That is a brilliant piece of engineering. How long did it take to do? Having problems? RodrigoMF_BR Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I use a simple, but very good brazilian made collective. http://www.gsprodutos.com/gscoletivousb.shtml
BaD CrC Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 @ =RvE=Yoda: Strange, this link is working for me. Check out SimAviatik, a swiss company manufacturing this collective (initaly a Jet Ranger one). The problem with the collectives you guys have or want to buy is that there is no place to add switches. It will take some heavy modding. The modding on the SimAviatik one is quick and it gives you all the actual functions of the Ka 50 collective, even though it doesn't look exactly like one. @ JimMack: Thanks. It wasn't too bad for the building. What was a little bit more complicated is to find out how to assign all the 300 switches to the sim, and also the 120+ leds through the.lua interfaces. Evenmore that ED never published the Pit builder SDK he announced when BS came out. The configuration of the 6 screens was also a bit hairy, as well as getting 30 fps out of this. All in all, it took about a year I would say. You have the link to the full topic of the building process in my signature. @ nemises: Thanks nemises! :D https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
