WildBillKelsoe Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Hello, First of all, I'd like to salute ED on a job well done. Truly masterpiece. Beats Ka-50 by a mile. Second, I wanted to say that on training mission "TO & Basic Handling", as he orders a 360 level turn to bearing 040, My speed doesnt seem to keep the VVI centered on zero, despite offsetting trim by twice or thrice the opposite surface. Any charts for speed vs VVI vs Trim? I also wonder if there is an autopilot system, at least for maintaining altitude, pitch, roll, and heading. The ILS is basically a landing system but I never got that far in the manual. I'm currently stuck in P.173-253 (CDU 80 pages ED!????) I also enjoyed flicking aimlessly, the switches on the MFCDs and luckily, unloaded my flight plan :noexpression: .... You cant resist the urge to flick all these buttons and switches and see what happens :D Further, I'd appreciate if a flap placard (much like Microsoft's 747 kneeboard table for speed in KIAs vs flap config) existed. So far so good, with the takeoff completed, I shall start navigation once I've read enough about it in the PFM.... Mud Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 There are 3 modes of autopilot on the plane. Quote from the manual: The EAC provides three autopilot modes to the A-10C: Path, Altitude/Heading and Altitude/Bank. WildBillKelsoe Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 But the exact mechanism is not clear. I've read that by searching for AP and found it in the enhanced blah blah blah.. NoJoe Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Further, I'd appreciate if a flap placard (much like Microsoft's 747 kneeboard table for speed in KIAs vs flap config) existed. As far as flaps go, you just need to remember one airspeed: 185 Knots indicated. Above this airspeed they will auto-retract themselves. Below this airspeed you're good to go. --NoJoe [EDIT] 185 KIAS applies to any amount of flaps, by the way. You can safely go to full flaps the moment you slow below 185 indicated. [/EDIT]
WildBillKelsoe Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 Thanks Joe, but what about the trimmer? any speed/vvi/trimmer placard as well? I'm cruising at 248 KIAs , at 7000 feet, struggling to get the trim right. Two taps down and three taps up, cant center the damn thing... gmohr Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I often have wondered if the trim resolution is accurately modeled. It seems too aggressive, leading to the three taps down one tap up dance. Couple that with the really primatve AP, and you have your hands full. WildBillKelsoe Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 I think trimmer is best used with A/P. A/P has both direction and altitude hold. I didnt get to meet the avtopilot till I started the Navigation training mission. That sound (A/P) is a relief... I think I'll go ahead and try completing the Takeoff and Handling mission with the A/P for the level turn. Lets hope the A/P can handle minor roll trims. Otherwise I might have to switch the mode to ALT only.. So far I'm enjoying every moment with this sim. BS is history and in the toilet...
