CrashEd Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Just a side note for those intrested, James May (from the UKs Top Gear show) will be doing a show of his own featuring the NGX737!!! Its out in september. Stand by for more news Thanks for the heads up on that mate, I'll keep an eye out for it  I have to say I'm massively impressed with the NGX so far. Only done two very short flights so far, but it is awesome. The performance is excellent, given the complexity, and even at the busiest airports where frame rates are low, it is still buttery smooth. This is testament to the PMDG's optimisation of the code - no mean feat in FSX! Even real 737 pilots are raving about it on the avsim forum, so it must be pretty good. Everything is modelled to the minutest detail! Beautiful :D The collimated HGS is also incredible - a first (properly) in FSX. Radar Contact is definitely worth a go for IFR flight - far better than the stock ATC. I just wish the ACT in DCS: A-10C was better :(
monotwix Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Finally… a nice 737 without a doubt, I looked around the cockpit and I’m like a dog watches TV trying to find a screen. The sound is excellent for both internal and external but I’m going to add some combustion boost to the aft cone with my additional wav. Well I need to say more about that and I will later. The wing flex is good, it’s fast with turbulence, it is what it is, what can I say. The liveries and fuel calculation as an extra downloads are there. If I was a passenger I’d go for A320 and B737 is what I wont to fly. You see, what’s the point of winglets if you can’t see them from the inside? For that I’ve got an answer, it’s very easy to do….and they didn’t do it in J41, they could add optional models for virtual cockpits with passenger seats. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
hassata Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Between DCS A10 and this, it's a landmark year for sims. Even better than the "Golden Age" in my opinion. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 ... and fuel calculation as an extra downloads are there. Have you got a link to that? :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
andysim Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 i put the aircraft in a hold yesterday just so I could watch the wingflex and its so real I could swear I was watching a video!. And the 3500 pages of manuals is a huge bonus that alot of people dont appreciate lol. You really get so much with this aicraft I find it hard to believe its only $69. (Was £42 in England so thats about what you might spend on a night out on the town)
Conure Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I would LOVE to get this but am sure my PC won't run it :( Maybe one day! Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
andysim Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 you should be fine with your posted specs. really depends if you want to run addon scenery. If you dont then you will be fine =)
MTFDarkEagle Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Agreed with Andy. Do you have the PMDG MD-11 for FSX? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
monotwix Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Have you got a link to that? :) Here is the link to the 737NG Fuel Planer: http://www.precisionmanuals.com/pages/downloads/misc.html 1 I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
MTFDarkEagle Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Cheers monotwix! Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Conure Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I tried MD11 with REX/GEX etc etc but it ran REALLY badly :( Isn't the standard scenary really bad?? Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Fabri91 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) Unless you put every traffic at 100% and max autogen, with maximum cloud draw distance it should run quite ok on your pc. I have a reasonably similar system to you and oveclocking helps immensely with FSX, which was conceived before multicore processors really caught on. Besides, with the 737NGX is also an excellent introduction which guides you to setting up FSX in a decent way. andysim Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 FSBreak talk to Robert Randazzo (the guy behind PMDGs NGX) Fun to listen too and have a voice to go with the name =) http://www.fsbreak.net/
Conure Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 So, I bought it along with a stock copy of FSX :) Downloading now... Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Conure Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Omg. All I can say is, this addon is absolutely incredible. Wow. Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
andysim Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Omg. All I can say is, this addon is absolutely incredible. Wow. it sure is hehe. :joystick:
Conure Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Could anybody give me a hand with OCing my cpu? The game runs well but I#d like to try it...I don't have a stock cooler on my CPU but it's not great either. But it never goes above 62oC so I presume I can squeeze a few more mhz out before it's too hot! Is there a simple way to get a bit more performance without spending a long time learning about memory clocks and voltages, or do I need to go the "whole hog" so to speak? Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Conure Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Wow, changed the multiplier from 133 to 153....about a 400mhz increase...FPS up by ten...Only using a small fan and its hitting 65oC now so better keep it around here...Still, that was nice and easy :) Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
MTFDarkEagle Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Get a bigger/better CPU cooler and you can go a lot further than that, with cooler temps :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Conure Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I'm going to do that MTF - For now, just upping the multiplier a bit for a few hundred mhz won't damage my CPU will it? in normal use it never goes above 64oC but i dont understand much of the goings on under the hood! Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Conure Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 P.s I am absolutely staggered by this aircraft. The attention to detail is second to none. I do not believe there is a sim on the market that offers this level of detail. about 4000 pages of manual. Incredible, worth every penny... Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
Phantom88 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Conure,as long as you don't increase your CPU voltage I think you'll be fine,If your PC does start to crash though it's probably from a unstable overclock. Best thing to do is research the subject first then and only then try overclocking or bring it to a pro who knows how to do it safely..Increasing voltage to much will harm your pc. Patrick
MTFDarkEagle Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Yes! Good piece of advice Phantom88! Don't mess with the voltages just yet! Be sure to get a better understanding of what you are doing first, and most important: get a good CPU cooling unit before you increase voltage! Simply because: 65 degrees on load + weak(er) cpu cooler + increased voltage = temperature overload :D Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Conure Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 thanks for the advice guys :) tbh I am happy with performance as it is atm. Getting 25fps with rex/utx/gex and using ngx..Looks great and feels smooth. Just didn't wanna find out I'd done something wrong and were rapidly killing my cpu! Seems stable though... Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
monotwix Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I’ve been using a flight yoke and EZCA camera because it enhances the simulation experience. It’s my recommendation to use EZCA with TrackIR, it’s like any one would recommend TrackIR for a flight sim, the same thing does for EZCA. They both compatible and with appropriate settings, they work together simultaneously which generates visual sense of motion, it's very nice at first and after a while it seems essential. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
