Scooternutz Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hello, While I am trying to figure my monitor situation with 1.09 I have re-installed 1.08 for the time being. I would like to install 1.09 so I can work with the monitors. Is there a way to install both? I found the reg file for A-10. When I removed it the program still launched. I used to swap out registry keys with Falcon years ago. When I would pull a reg file out Falcon would not launch until I imported the correct one. Doesn't seem to be the case here. If I go ahead and just install 1.09 on a separate drive will it work. I know that the options.lau is always in the Users saved games folder. Thanks, Scooter [sIGPIC]https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rUBmmJR7A3YGZVGPGskxG1XtvulGojJ/view?usp=sharing[/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Yep it will be fine, I have about 5 or 6 different installs at the moment all working fine. Just copy and paste the Main DCS folder and updated the shortcuts to match. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

I've never touched the Win registry before. I have 1.1.0.9 installed right now. Do I just install .8 to another drive...create new shortcut and that's it? 159th_Viper Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I Do I need to do anything with the registry? Nope. I have 1.1.0.9 installed right now. Do I just install .8 to another drive...create new shortcut and that's it? Just rename your Install folder to DCS:A-10C 1.1.0.9, your desktop icon to DCS: A-10C 1.1.0.9 and edit it's properties as follows with 1.1.0.9: Once done, you can install 1.1.0.8 right next to your current 1.1.0.9 install. Both will use the Saved Games folder that you have currently - If you wish to have separate settings (ie two Saved Games folders for the separate installs, let me know and I'll show you how to edit the launcher further. Scooternutz Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 I would like to have separate game folders. Can you explain? [sIGPIC]https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rUBmmJR7A3YGZVGPGskxG1XtvulGojJ/view?usp=sharing[/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I would like to have separate game folders. Can you explain? Edit the Launcher of the install you want a separate folder for with the addition of the part in blue: The new folder will then be created in the Saved Games folder named 'DCS Release Candidate' in this example or, in your instance, whatever else you decide to name it. make sure there is a space between the " and the -w (I made that mistake once or twice). Nate--IRL-- Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 EDIT:- I misunderstood the question - as well as being expertly sniped :P Lets say for the moment you have 1.1.0.8 installed in C:\program files. Copy the DCS folder to say "C:\DCS 1.1.0.8". Then do a full install of 1.1.0.9 to where ever you like. 1.1.0.9 will have the shortcut made for it by the installer in order to launch DCS - Remember DCS can ONLY be launched by the shortcuts. For "C:\DCS 1.1.0.8" you must now copy those shortcuts and edit them in the properties for the icon, so they point to the "C:\DCS 1.1.0.8" folder.
