rddaos Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Can someone please explain to me the difference between the targeting pod crosshairs and the little square dot (situational awareness cue)? One indicates what your targeting pod camera/laser is pointed at, and the other indicates something else that I can't figure out. Thanks!
bengo Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 The dot show you where the target in the crosshairs is, in relation to your aircraft. If the dot is for example in the bottom right of the screen, then the target in the crosshairs is at your 5 o'clock position, which means you're flying away from it. i7 6700k/GTX1070-8G/MSI-Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon/32GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX PREDATOR DDR4 3000MHZ Vengeance 1600/TM Warthog #6106/Samsung SB350_S27B350H/OCZ Agility3 SSD 128GB / Win10-64/TIR5
Harzach Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Think of the crosshairs as a top-down view of your aircraft. The cue shows the relative position of the TGP's focal point.

BluesmanSF Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I dont want to hijack the thread, but has anyone found any use of the north marker on the TGP display. At least to me its awfully confusing, especially when its tilted almost horizontally. anyways, happy flying!

If it is tilted perfectly horizontally, and say the N is on the right, then North is to the right of the TGP picture. Simple as that. It is just another point of reference.

It is just another point of reference. That assumes, and I have not checked the new patch, that they have fixed the north arrow issue. When you pass over the target and the TGP changes its view orientation, the arrow did not change correctly. There is a thread somewhere about this issue. Up to that point it seems to be reasonable correct the times I have taken note of it.
