  1. @BlueRidgeDx Simple, yet thorough answer, thanks for clearing this up. =)
  2. This sounds really awesome, any chance it would be available for iPhone too? Cheers!
  3. ...to try the vulnerable mode enabled from the logbook, at least every now and then. I tend to practice and do fun stuff with the invulnerable one, but it get's whole lotta more interesting to fly even simple missions with the "dead is dead" mode. For example i've setup a few missions where there is just low-level threat's (shilkas & strelas) around for practice missions, but even those do get very tedious when you know the precious flight hours logged(not to mention the medals and promotions XD ) could be thrown away in a second. Keeps your focus on a new level I'd say. Dang it, even flying the traffic circuit is fun and needs concentration this way, let alone air refueling.. :smilewink:. Although, I have to add, I'm still learning the sim, and I have very little experience from the campaign, and for now my connection is way too slow for serious MP, I therefore don't know how the "dead is dead" comes around playing the campaign, but I'll definitely try after I have some hours with the stick AND with the manual. Do you fly with invulnerable set to off? Share your experience! 6S_Blues
  4. hmm, are you able to save view angles, so that you can toggle between them, or are they predesignated? Im wondering because when looking down at CDU my TIR isn't so accurate anymore.. 6S_Blues
  5. ...and that's excatly why I love to browse these forums. Not a single one thread where there is NOT a good amount of information, encouragements, etc. I too want to add my thanks to you all forum members, including, and especially moderators, for allowing me to learn this sim in the best fashion available. The learning process is fantastic when there's a forum like this. I Salute you! 6S_Blues
  6. Ah, okay, that clears it.. 6S_Blues
  7. I'm sure of it! Infinite Thanks to you! 6S_Blues
  8. I have also noticed that you can disconnect the ATPSS from the center block and have it with you (although weighing around 85kg, it's surprisingly light and almost carries itself), for example, to a local bar after succesful sortie. At least some folks are quite fond of telling everyone, especially to women, about their ATPSS's. But usually nothing good comes from that. :P And I have found no use of keeping the ATPSS in a car, just slows you down. 6S_Blues
  9. Thanks for your hard work! One question though, I turn my CDU, and EGI ON right after APU is running 100% and I get power through the APU generator, that way I can save few minutes on the INS alignment process. When I have been given clearance to start up and engines have spooled up to norm I THEN turn on the eng1 and 2 generators, which after turn off the APU gen and shutdown APU. That way CDU and and EGI won't restart during startup, and as said, alignment starts a bit earlier. But have I misunderstood something and/or am I doing something wrong? 6S_Blues
  10. It's funny how you notice the number in so many places. ...After discovering the true meaning of life, that is. And isn't the art of flying simple? Not hitting the ground!

  12. That's what I call dumb bombs.. The CHAFF-part was the best!
  13. Hello! For the last couple of weeks I have been practicing furiously and studying different parts of this huge sim and I feel I've just scratched the surface, and the only thing I know I master, is flying straight and level. Well it's a start.. Anyways, I tried some of the missions on which, if you're able, the best method of finding the enemy seems to be making a large orbit around the target area. I've been testing a couple of different altitudes and distances from the target and found out that at around 15.000ft AGL, making orbit with a 5nm radius at 260-270TAS, (half a throttle, to save the fuel) the bank angle is therefore settling at about 6-7 degrees, is for me, a good start point. The AP in ALT mode will keep the bank angle constant and you can concentrate getting hands full of setting the co-ords, finding the target or whatever, sing a song if you're in the mood. Of course there's a plethora of variables which will affect the mentioned settings, including fuel, armament, temperature, WINDS, etc.. AND, this was a result of a fairly quick test.. =D 15.000ft AGL is because at that elev, you can pretty much stay above the SA-9's, SA-13's and MANPAD's envelope, and of course, Shilka's. I wonder if anyone of you has similar methods of finding and acquiring targets, and I'm utmost curious because this is all very new to me and I know next to nothing of the different variations of performing CAS missions. Educate me, please, share your thoughts! 6S_Blues
  14. So that means that you ARE supposed to refuel? I just followed the leader back to base, although I thought I were supposed to refuel too. =D Anyways, good mission indeed, great voice-overs and the it had a great feeling, due to the beautiful sunset! Thanks alot! 6S_Blues
  15. I dont want to hijack the thread, but has anyone found any use of the north marker on the TGP display. At least to me its awfully confusing, especially when its tilted almost horizontally. anyways, happy flying!
  16. No, we don't. ;) But yeah, those are indeed good points.
  17. Wait, what?! There's guns too?? :P Seriously, you guys are right. Almost got the hang of airfueling (any part of KC-135 tankers floating around the sea was by almost utterly, completely, and thoroughly, NOT done by me, or the Wolkswagen-sized gun, no way), then practiced some formation flying with a fellow F-117, followed by some traffic circuits trying to keep it +-10 from assigned alt/speed/heading, just to relax. So much to do, so little time...
  18. Yes I noticed that too, at treshold they are pretty much dancing by themselves.. Anyways, here's the track, have fun, at least I did when I watched and noticed the never-ending fiddling with the switches.. :joystick: edit: can't spell.. zero vis ils.trk
  19. Hello fellows simmers! Just wanted to share the feelings and a bit of adrenaline I got from the first succesful night-time zero-visibility ILS landing. I'm still a total newbie with the Hog, can barely manage the easy instant missions, and been practicing with a bit of this and that. I have some history with FSX so I thought ILS landings would be the one thing I COULD do, but Dear Lord I'm not able to do that again if I wanted to. I put a simple ils practice mission at night with such a bad visibility I literally couldn't see the position of air brakes :megalol: Anyways, interecepted the Batumi localizer at about 10nm and 2500ft, and after that, he** broke loose. With a ridicilous amount of luck and chasing the needles (which you should not do), I ended up in perfectly centered position some 20ft above the runway, which scared the cp** out of me, but somehow managed to flare and made a decent landing, but due to fog I barely could steer straight and brake to a full halt on the runway. Dang a smoke felt good after that. Man I'm in looove with this sim. If you want to watch the track I can post it, there's some random fiddling with the buttons cause there's still so much I don't have a clue, and it looked quite fun afterwards =D. Thanks Ed guys.
  20. indeed, has anyone tried? this mission seems awfully fascinating, thanks alot Bahger! :)
  21. I have noticed it too, and I also have smoother experience near airfields. What a marvelous update! =) Thanks ED. 6S_Blues
  22. Ok, that clears it alot. Thanks a bunch!
  23. Hi! Is it possible to install the software to different computer than the one to which is has been downloaded. As I'm planning to download the files with a computer with a better internet connection then via usb-drive transfer it to the actual computer. So is it legal, and or allowed? Cheers!
  24. Yes, good point Sulman about the attitude and wait'n see. There's truly a feel of almost nirvanish' achievement after you can accurately predict what the heck will happen in 10-20secs ..not that I've been there but "the boys told me" :smilewink: And darn that I had fun last night, on a sudden strike of utter nonsense it came to mind that "why not disengage all the AP", and decided to go to the nearest town for a little urban show-off. To my surprise I didn't crash while sweeping the streets and trying all kinds of fancy stuff "down in the town". AND, after about 20mins of goofing, boy it was EASY to fly with the AP stabs on! I definitely encourage to try it. WITH immortal - on XD 6S_Blues
  25. What I REALLY love in this sim, is that the more you fly the Shark, the more you begin to understand all the dynamics involved, and yet the more you begin to appreciate the machine and enjoy flying! =D A small note, I've learned that with more or less a default conf. (75% or so fuel, Vikrh's and S8's) the bird pretty much hovers without the HOVER-mode by pitching the nose up about 4-5 degrees, so by looking at the hud it's fairly easy to decelerate into hover by adding more nose-up, and after stopping, trimming to 4-5 nose-up attitude. I know this might be self-explainatory to most of you, but it has helped me to stabilize the Shark every now and then. =) And I really have to see into that FD thingy, I have considered it just a learning tool for the early stages of practice, but there might be some genuine advantages in the acceleration and decelaration stages, as you guys suggested. Darn we have a helpful community, thanks! S! 6S_Blues
