Anyway this jammer usually can't help much.... more often you will die by missile in front of you than back. And flares go up not down, big mistake IMHO compared to A-10 in this matter. If they sepparate from the airplane too fast, there's a chance that the seeker won't catch them. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.

Yes they don't go so high up when you watch YT videos of Frog but still IMO A-10 is better in this aspect, maybe I am wrong but I'd prefer flares down a bit than up, even a bit :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. combatace Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Its a mentality I guess. All american planes dispense flares down and Russian planes throw them up. Downwards is good for ground ponders but when dog fighting or evading A to A IR missile I guess throwing up is better.
