WildBillKelsoe Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 In an effort trial to switch from manual ILS landing to automated, is it possible to set the aircraft to land on its own using Path Hold feat.? Tracks are immensly appreciated. I won't argue that landing manually is the best option as you never know when crosswind will deter the aircraft from its original path, and a perfect initial alignment is often thwarted by AI wingy, who's virtually stuck up close, headwind and speed reduction due to flaps drag so manual reversion (not MRFCS) is the guaranteed way to it.. I know one could anchor him to fence to insure a less clogged, solo landing, but with a touch and go in case other AI decides not to play ball.. CADelta Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I believe not, since the path is not dynamic, hence: it will not respond to your HSI input and thereby turning the plane for ya. So the autopilot in the A-10C is very basic. /Krycek = CAD = Krycek [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I try to save a life a day. Usually it's my own!
MTFDarkEagle Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Not possible, but if you magically manage to "capture" the glideslope with the path hold, it will follow the path. And if the patch equals to the glideslope, you are following the glideslope. The A-10C's AP is very basic. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

cichlidfan Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Jeezus, 3. Autopilot Select Switch. Located along the right side of the panel is a three position switch that allows you to select the active autopilot mode. These autopilot modes form the Low Altitude Autopilot (LAAP) system. The three selections are: PATH (top position). This mode will attempt to keep the aircraft on its current flight path, represented by the total velocity vector symbol on the HUD. This mode will not engage with a bank angle greater than 10-degrees. ALT/HDG (middle position). This mode will attempt to maintain the barometric altitude and heading of the aircraft when the mode was activated. This mode will not engage with a bank angle greater than 10-degrees. ALT (down position). When this mode is engaged, the autopilot will attempt to maintain current bank angle and barometric altitude. OK, now that is from the 1.1.0.9 flight manual. 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! cichlidfan Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 It is probably important to note one specific word in the last part...:D ALT (down position). WildBillKelsoe Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 a bank angle of 10 degrees equals the first tick mark from the vertical on the attitude. I tried it today but it kept a very high pitch forward at 300 meters, and I was oblique to the runway. I'll do some more tests... MTFDarkEagle Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 It'll still be the most convenient to just do it manually I think.. Doing it with PATH mode is a work-around for a work-around... Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
