Ragtop's A-10C Build

Looks very good! I might also look at getting some transfer sheets made up, which would take out the possibility of having those edges showing. My only concern is how well the adhesive would stick to the painted wood.

Yes, that's a valid concern. To my knowledge transfer sheets tend to be rubbed away when often touched (I know from Battletech miniature painting:D).

The adhesive from Dymo is really good. Most astonishing, the text is really durable. All buttons look the same after months of constant use. I guess on an evenly painted panel they would stick quite good and durable. Perhaps you have a Dymo at work or a friend has one. Test it with a small sample... anyway, mine was about 30 EUR on E-Bay so not that expensive actually.

Very useful to know. It also looks like they require a certain type of printer to work with, and even more specific to print white, which pretty much rules out that unless I have a company make them up!

There is a Dymo printer at work so I'll have a play if I get a chance!

Hmm, if you ask nicely and buy the tape yourself, perhaps you can use the one at work :D

Wow, can't believe it's actually been a year!

I just sold my TM:WH, and sent the buyer a link to show my cockpit (Hello if you're reading this!) and thought I'd have a read through the project thread again.

I've made some big changes over this past year - As anyone who's seen my sale thread will have noticed! I've stopped flying, but I'm still simming! Racing is where my interests lie now, and my cockpit has been adapted to match. Just thought you guys might be interested to see how it is in it's current form :)

Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas!

Wow, it's been a LONG time!

Decided to rebuild the simpit because why not!

Will probably be less detailed this time round, but the build will be better!

Here's a catch up for those interested!

Last time round I made a few mistakes. One was that the front panel was flimsy. Moving around the pit was wobbly and felt like I could break something.

It was also in the way. My GF moved in with me and it was far too big. We built a home theatre and the pit simply didn't fit any more.

I had a Vocal Booth I used to use for recording music, but that hobby has been dead for a long time now, so the room was free to be repurposed. Simpit time!

I started from scratch with no plans this time round. I'd like to have done Dimebug's build again but the room doesn't quite accommodate the measurements. Instead I made it up as I went along, with both flight and racing in mind. So far I think I'm going pretty well!

I need to source the big three again. HOTAS Warthog, some rudder pedals and Cougar MFD's, but I have a diving trip to the Red Sea coming up so they'll have to wait.

In the meantime however I have some goodies coming from TomDK, including a CDU, UFC and some console panels. I'll get those wired up and deal with the input devices when I can! I also have an X52 to tide me over.

Below are some photos documenting the current state of affairs!

Thanks for checking back in.

EDIT: Apologies for the upside down photos. I never understand why that happens.

Progress!

Got a very daunting box from TomDK, which took me a lot of time to figure out!

Spent the day figuring out the wiring and hooray, it all works!

Next job is to get the UFC positioned, and paint the console tops. I'm hesitating on painting them because I still need to get a Warthog and cut out the throttle mount for it.

Indeed! I honestly built it "to see if I could" but I intend to get the Huey in the next sale, and I fly a bit of helo in Arma 3. Thought that as I was building a pit I might as well!

So you are building a generic pit this time around?

I'm still planning mine, but a X55 set, Dfgt set and the Mfg pedals needs a home. Bought a cheap racing style seat. Still need to make a collective and make everything collapsible.. 2 room apartment and all that jazz..

Very interested in how you will progress..

Anything with a Rotary Wing is fun and challenging.

Use SRS radio.
