Some notes:

Try to get the low profile vengeance memory - will give you more flexibility with CPU coolers.

Speaking of which: get a decent aftermarket cooler. Scythe has the mugen, ninja and yasya, which are relatively close to one another in performance. all recommended at their low prices.

You don't need an 850W powersupply. 450 will easily do the trick. Get something upscale like Seasonic or Enermax instead.

Wireless, I'd say stay away from cards and get a USB-device instead. Easier to deal with, and you don't need external atennas to get the thing to work. But then, I'd wire up tower computers anyway and forget about wireless.

Finally, personally I prefer the G400 to the G500.

Finally, you might consider putting a mid-sized SSD in, and use it for caching with a Z68 chipset.

I will agree with this in only one respect. You probably would be fine with 450watts....of perfectly clean, stable power. Please go back to the corsair site and read the section that explains 80+ ratings. I am not going to get pedantic and quote it here.

Cutting corners on your power supply is a sure way to end up with problems that will have you chasing your tail for days at a time. Also remember, that PS is going to be compatible with most any future build as well. Good ones, and Corsair is one of them, last.

Agreeing with cichlidfan, partially: never ever even think about possibly at some point perhaps go a little bit cheap on PSU. They are a piece of equipment that does age, so while it might work today, it might start causing issues later on.

A 450w unit would become a really really close call if there's overclocking happening down the line.

2 years ago when I built my pc people said that I'm crazy for getting a 430W PSU ... 300W was all I needed ...

now I can't buy a GTX 570 because my PSU is not strong enough and I need to buy a new PSU ...

people nowadays say 600W or 850W for SLI is more then plenty ... until at the end of the year when the 7000series ati releases or at the beginning next year the 600series nvidia releases ... then you are out of luck with a 600W PSU !

Don't go cheap with the PSU ... the good corsair ones have 7 (SEVEN) years of warrenty ... you don't want to buy a new one in one or two years again

plan for the future and get at least a 850W one or you will upgrade sooner than you would like to

the PSU and maybe case is one of the things you can/will take with you for the next one/two/three pc build(s)

Heh, yeah, back in the "good old days" before I started nerding out totally on hardware (back then I was a lowly gamer just playing the games and writing about it, didn't know much about the hardware and had never built a machine myself) and I actually caused a PSU to burn. There was the dreaded fizzle sound and magic smoke escaping, and suddenly I had no useable computer just because I installed a new GPU without having a proper PSU in place...

I was lucky and the PSU didn't take anything with it, but if you are unlucky in a situation like that it can actually take motherboards and GPU's with it when it blows. Cheap PSU can, if bad luck strikes, cause you to have to replace your entire rig. Think of the added money for the beefier and better PSU as a sort of insurance policy for the rest of the rig.

I have the 850 watt supply listed now. It should be perfect for your friends needs. It cleans up the case amazingly well.

You pretty much have my computer listed now. Only better gpu. Your friend will have a better machine than you.

Are we playing BMS tonight? I fell pike flying something. I'll be on TS around 6 sel94.

One question for ya. Did you include a copy of DCS A10?

go look at AMDs webpage and find the video card specific PSU requirements. You will be amazed. I have a 950 Corsair in mine to support everything and some extra things plus the ol 4870. The 4870 requires alot of power. Their webpage used to list a OCZ 700w as being ok but after some years they dropped that off the list and went higher watts. Go check it out.
