I have recently joined the illustrious group of us who have rudder pedals. The Saitek combat rudder pedals, as it happens, and they seem pretty good. I do have a problem. I game on a sofa. I also have a hardwood floor. When using the rudders, they slip on the floor. I've seen the instructions for the CH products rudder pedals "staythere", but I don't really think it's suitable for me. Does anyone have any experience or ideas of ways to keep them still, whilst still being able to move them and clear them away instantly should I need to? I'm having some trouble getting it just right.:helpsmilie:

Maybe you can apply something like this to your rudders -

(putting the vid in just for reference -... because others don't know it)

and use some stripes/lines instead of a cardboard...

or use some "sticky-pads" made out of silicone - the things you have in car shops -that will prevent that your Mobil-phone will slide on your car-console...

I have sort of the opposite situation. I have my pedals braced against the wall but my chair is on wheels so I bought a small rug with very thick pile to keep the chair from rolling and I put this mat underneath to keep the rug in place. It is designed specifically to keep rugs from sliding but it, or something like it, might work under the pedals as well. This link is from a the hardware chain that I knew would have a pic but you can find it in what they call "Dollar Stores" in the US as well.

Currently I'm experimenting with a bathmat. The pedals don't seem to slip against the rubber of the bathmat. Just need to get the suction cups to stick to the floor.

Bath mat?!

If it really has to be a Bathmat -

this is the kind of bathmat you need to glue under your rudders (instead of the sticky-pads):

bathmat.jpg

this kind will not do the work! :

I have hardwood floors also. I used one of those rubber mats that you would place at the front door. I have not had any issues.

Here are some examples.

Personally I like option 3.

Or you could try wal-mart.

By the way that bloody footprint bathmat is nasty...... Why would you want that in your house? Seriously?

Having seen pics of the "Frankenstein" throttle that Peter built, I was thinking that was just real blood.:megalol:

Actually, I would use that in my home but I am not a reliable reference for taste or style!:D

Lead Bricks.

http://www.maycoindustries.com/lead_brick_ballast.htm

I have never tried to buy any but there has to be a surplus/used market out there somewhere. When I was young an uncle of mine had some in the trunk of his car for winter driving. He had access through work though.

With a rubber pad under them they should work well, though I am not sure how much weight you would actually need. Depending on what I am flying I can push mine pretty hard.

Just a thought, and an appology for derailing your thread a bit.;)

At the point it happened there was already everything said - so I don't think you(We) derailed it.

and it was quite entertaining at least!:)

Abaut the lead bricks - I don't think its very healty (in the long term) to have a brick of lead (painted or not) in your living room... and depleted uranium would be also no good alternative...:D

I was having the same problem. Found a temporary fix, it is not ideal but useable. I used some weights I had to block the movement of the pedal and had to raise the pedals using an Amazon box. I'm short (5'6") so I have to have my chair high to reach the desk comfortably thus having to raise the pedals. Now I need a way to mount the stick and I have no freakin clue how to do that. I am usually MacGyver like with this stuff but the TM Warthog is proving impossible for me to find a solution to without building something.

I don't know what kind of chair you are using -

Maybe this clever idea from Agent_Archer will give you some inspiration how to mount the stick in a clean and easy/cheap way:

That chair is awesome. I need to find a chair with large platforms on each side. That would work perfect. Don't want to center mount mine because it'll be irritating getting in and out of the chair. I also need wheels on the chair. Some sort of wrap around desk would work. I definitely don't build things unless it comes with a manual.

Anyways, thanks. I won't derail the thread anymore.

Hahaha, that's hilarious. Definitely see how that would make sense based on what I described. I was thinking more along the lines of this http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=63908

This setup is perfect, just need a cheaper version. That desk and a similar chair. Something under $500 is my target. I will find something eventually...I hope.
