JG2_Miller Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Hi everyone, this is my first post here, so I hope it wont be my last one^^. I was just curious if I'm the only one using training ordnance on Trainservers. If you even have them available, why not use them to prevent the demolition of the target? I often had the case that I approached the target, lined up everything and monitored the counter for my bombdrop, just to see my target explode by another guys bomb. Most of the times my bomb just went on its journey through 15000 feet of air when this happens. I always take training ordnance on Trainservers if it's not required to destroy the target, so others can use it too for training purposes. So my question guys: Am I the only one thinking that way? Regards
Snoopy Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I use them all the time. The only downside is that the sim doesn't track hits or anything... v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
JesseJames38 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I also tryed to set up a mission with training ordance. It seems to work fine with dumb bombs for the most part. About the only really good training ordance there is are the little dumb bombs that give out white smoke so you know where the bomb landed. The training ordance for the LGB dont work as it dose not track the training laser mode to hit the target. The only way to tell if a dumb bomb hits that are not the type that uses the smoke is to watch the weapon fall to the ground with the F6 view to see if it dose hit the target. All in all most of the training ordance seems to be useless for training from the point of one person trying to help another person set up the aircraft and deploy weapons. From a personal standpoint if your just doing pratice with your self you have a pretty good idea if it dose hit or not. And as Paulrkiii says. Hit or misses are not tracked, so its just one more reasion for me not to use them Jesse
Evil.Bonsai Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 The purpose for training rounds is that LIVE ordnance is expensive. And real targets have a limited lifespan. Not really much of an issue in a simulated environment. If you want to practice dropping bombs, drop bombs. Run out of targets? Add more. Or make them harder to kill targets. I like practicing with MK82s. If you can hit your target with a MK82 and the 5-mil consistently, well, now your just blowing stuff up and not really training :)
JG2_Miller Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Well, practice isn't necessary for me anymore, I fly the Hog since Beta 5 on a regular base I think^^. Since I try to fly as real as possible, I'll continue using them on Trainservers. :)

Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Scooternutz Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Perhaps a trigger that replaces the target after it is destroyed with a delay of two minutes or so? [sIGPIC]https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rUBmmJR7A3YGZVGPGskxG1XtvulGojJ/view?usp=sharing[/sIGPIC]
